Overview of the Position:
· Family office operating in San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara, California Counties seeks qualified candidates for position of Chief Financial Officer to support investment, development, and leasing real estate for multiple properties and entities.
· Responsible for oversight of financial matters for all companies and operations, including accounting, income tax reporting, treasury management, future planning, investments, and risk management.
· The Chief Financial Officer will direct and oversee the financial activities of the companies, direct the preparation of current financial reports and summaries, and create forecasts predicting future growth.
Duties/Responsibilities:
General
· Identifies and assists with implementation of long-term strategic and operational objectives for the companies.
· Directs the preparation of all financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, owner reports, tax returns, and governmental agency reports.
· Establishes, coordinates, and administers as an integral part of management, an adequate plan for the control of operations including profit planning, programs for capital investing and financing, sales forecasts, project development forecasts, expense budgets and cost standards, together with necessary controls and procedures to effectuate the plan.
· Compares revenues and profit projections to actual figures and budgeted expenses to actual expenses; makes or oversees any necessary adjustments to future projections and budgets.
· Works with ownership and other executives to coordinate planning and establish priorities for the planning process.
· Works with other department heads to monitor each department and make recommendations.
· Works with tax and legal advisors to optimize tax and legal outcomes, as well as to provide information necessary for compliance and planning projects.
· Studies long-range economic trends and projects their impact on future growth in revenue and investments.
· Oversees Accounting department, budget preparation, and audit functions.
· Establishes and executes programs for the provision of capital required by the business, including negotiating the procurement of capital and maintaining the required financial arrangements. Coordinates the long-range plans of the company, assesses the financial requirements implicit in these plans and develops alternative ways in which financial requirements can be satisfied.
· To manage the cash-flow position of the company. Responsibility includes authority to establish credit and collections and purchasing policies and to establish schedules for the payment of bills and financial obligations.
· To approve all agreements concerning financial obligations, such as contracts for products or services and other actions requiring a commitment of financial resources.
· Maintains relationships with financial institutions in conjunction with the President. Administers banking arrangements and loan agreements, receives, has custody of and disburses the companies’ monies and securities. Maintains adequate sources for the companies’ current borrowings from commercial banks and other lending institutions. Invests the companies’ funds as appropriate.
· Prepares financial analysis to assess the investment return and feasibility of potential real estate transactions.
· Responsible for the financial aspects of real estate transactions, and executes bids, contracts and leases.
· Ensures the maintenance of appropriate financial records and preparation of required financial reports.
· Coordinates insurance coverage as required.
Oversees the collection of accounts due the companies
· Oversees the selection, implementation and maintenance of all financial reporting and transactional platforms.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has direct supervisory responsibility of the Accounting department.
Work Environment
This position operates in a fast-paced professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment, such as computers and telephones.
