About the Opportunity
A 300+ bed acute care regional hospital is seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead financial strategy, operations, and sustainability. As a key executive team member, the CFO will play a pivotal role in ensuring financial health, operational efficiency, and long-term success.
Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Leadership
- Align financial strategy with hospital objectives in collaboration with the CEO and executive team.
- Partner with regional and corporate offices to drive operational and financial performance.
- Identify opportunities for growth, cost reduction, and financial sustainability.
Financial Management
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting to ensure fiscal responsibility.
- Lead revenue cycle management, including billing, collections, and reimbursement optimization.
- Conduct financial analyses, cost-saving initiatives, and service line profitability reviews.
- Prepare and present financial reports to leadership and the board of directors.
Operational Oversight
- Direct general accounting, materials management, and financial reporting functions.
- Optimize billing and collection systems for improved revenue cycle performance.
- Negotiate and manage contracts with managed care organizations to maximize reimbursement.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure strict compliance with The Joint Commission, OSHA, and federal/state regulations.
- Maintain strong internal controls to safeguard hospital assets.
- Oversee financial audits and risk management strategies.
Executive Advisory & Decision Support
- Provide data-driven insights to guide long-term financial planning and hospital expansion efforts.
- Advise leadership on capital investments, strategic initiatives, and financial risk management.
Qualifications
Education
- Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Preferred: Master’s Degree in Hospital Administration (MHA) or Business Administration (MBA).
Experience
- 10+ years in healthcare finance, with 5+ years as a Hospital CFO.
- Experience in for-profit healthcare systems is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with integrated health delivery systems and employed physician networks is a plus.
Certifications
- CPA certification is a plus but not required.
Technical Expertise
- Strong knowledge of hospital financial systems, healthcare accounting, and billing practices.
- Expertise in GAAP and healthcare-specific financial reporting.
- Proficiency in financial software, Microsoft Excel, and revenue cycle management tools.
