Business Operations Manager

The Strategic R&D Business Operations team ensures efficient clinical trial operations, including vendor contract management, financial oversight, and clinical site spend transparency.
Role Overview:
The Manager, Strategic R&D Business Operations, will manage the lifecycle of clinical trial site contracts and budgets. Acting as the Business Programs Site Manager (BPSM), this role supports clinical trial execution and financial management, liaising with internal teams and external partners to ensure smooth contract negotiations and timely execution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead site budget and contracting strategy for assigned programs, overseeing financial activities and deliverables.
- Collaborate with Global Study Operations to align clinical trial strategy with execution.
- Act as the primary contact for site budgets, Clinical Trial Agreement (CTA) management, and resolving contract/payment issues.
- Develop trial assumptions, milestones, and financial models based on protocol specifications.
- Contribute to site selection, feasibility, and budget negotiations.
- Draft and negotiate country/site CTAs and manage amendments as required.
- Track and reconcile site payments and ensure proper filing and documentation of agreements.
- Provide oversight on CRO/vendor performance and advise internal stakeholders on budget-related risks.
- Maintain awareness of country-specific requirements regarding site budgets and payments.
Qualifications:
- Education: BA/BS in finance, accounting, health sciences, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
- Experience: 8+ years in the pharmaceutical industry (including CROs) with 5+ years in Clinical Operations or Business Operations.
- Key Skills: Strong knowledge of site contracting and budgeting processes, excellent communication skills, and experience managing complex negotiations with minimal oversight.
- Nice to Have: Understanding of clinical site payments and regional differences, plus familiarity with clinical trial protocols.
