Position Summary:
Our client, an established PE firm with HQ in Metro Detroit, is seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to oversee fund-level financial reporting, consolidation, and purchase accounting. This part-time role (10–15 hours per week) offers flexibility, though Monday morning meetings are essential. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on finance leader with expertise in private equity, acquisitions, and due diligence. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to a dynamic private equity firm in a strategic yet hands-on capacity, with flexibility and a part-time commitment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, reviewing the month-end close.
- Oversee the maintenance of the general ledger and financial statements.
- Oversee and manage fund-level financial reporting and consolidation.
- Ensure accuracy and compliance in purchase accounting for acquisitions.
- Provide hands-on support in routine accounting and finance activities.
- Assist with due diligence when add-on acquisition opportunities arise.
- Maintain and enhance financial controls and reporting processes.
- Work closely with leadership on strategic financial planning.
- Manage the annual budgeting process and ongoing forecasting.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required
- MBA certification is a plus
- CPA is a plus
- Proven experience as a CFO, Controller, or senior finance leader in a private equity or investment firm.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices
- Experience in transportation and logistics is a plus but not required
- Proficiency in accounting software
- Purchase accounting experience is a preferred
- Proven track record of strategic business planning and managing multiple entities.
- Experience in M&A due diligence and integration preferred.
- Flexible, yet able to commit to Monday morning meetings.
