Chief Financial Officer:
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the organization and managing the Finance Department. This role includes strategic and tactical management of Sunrise Community Health’s financial resources. Given the dynamic nature of health care, particularly at a Community Health Center (CHC), the CFO may also oversee Human Resources, Data Management, Information Technology, Compliance and/or other functions crucial to the operations of a CHC depending on the candidates’ experience and skillset.
Position Summary:
With a Quality, Customer First, and Compassionate approach, The Chief Financial Officer will:

Develop and implement organizational goals, policies and procedures for financial management, budgeting, accounting, and payroll.

Establish and maintain department goals, financial policies, and procedures, ensuring compliance with guidelines and regulations set by Health and Human Services, General Accounting & Auditing Principles, Governmental Accounting Principles, and Contractual Agreements.

Oversee the acquisition, disposition and safekeeping of assets and fund balances.

Manage Sunrise Community Health’s financial resources.
-
Maintain accounting systems and internal controls to safeguard assets and fund balances.
-
Ensure adequate insurance coverage to protect Sunrise Community Health and the Board of Directors from liability and other potential losses.

Lead internal audits to review accounting and administrative controls.
-
Prepare and present monthly financial statements and benchmarks to the Board of Directors and Management, including the Statement of Operations, Statement of Financial Position and Budget Variances.

Oversee completion of reports such as:

Financial Audit(s) such as 330 Audit, Primary Care Audit, and other grant-funded programs

Medicare/Medicaid Audits

330 Budget
-
Uniform Data System Report
-
Financial Status Report
-
PSC 272 Reports
-
Medicare/Medicaid Cost Reports
-
Pension Plan Reporting
-
All other financial reports as required.

Monitor cash flow, costs, and revenue.

Participate in overall clinical, financial, and operational planning.

Provide input on grant proposals.
-
Contribute to facility expansion and development planning.
-
Direct the installation and maintenance of all financial software upgrades, including accounting, timekeeping, payroll, inventory, and property management systems.

Establish system controls for new financial systems and develop procedures to enhance existing systems.

Prepare journal entries for posting to the general ledger on a monthly basis.

Review general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy of coding and account balances.

Evaluate the costs of personnel policies and programs including employee benefit plan modifications and salary increases.

Pursue professional development through seminars, workshops, and industry affiliations to stay current with trends in financial management.

Manage employees through subordinates and other managers. Set performance goals, allocate resources, and evaluate policies for direct reports.

Coordinate the functions of reimbursement, budgeting, patient accounting, and general accounting, which includes general ledger accounting, accounts payable, payroll and purchasing.

Represent Sunrise Community Health in community relations efforts by participating in healthcare initiatives and serving on community Boards.
Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, and/or Finance required.

Master’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, and/or Finance preferred.

A minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Senior Leader in a primary health care setting (preferably community health) or not-for-profit healthcare required.
