Position: Chief Financial Officer
Location: Helena, MT
West Mont is pleased to announce an opportunity for an experienced Chief Financial Officer to join our team. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the CFO will collaborate closely with the Executive Team and Board of Directors to advance the mission of West Mont, by setting a strategic and growth-minded financial strategy, overseeing capital investments, and managing financial reporting. The successful candidate will work with internal leaders and external partners, such as banks and financial institutions. We seek an individual experienced with providing a successful investment perspective to support our strategic growth initiatives and ultimately advance our mission services.
Schedule: Full time, M-F 8am-4pm

Essential Duties
Leadership & Team Development:
- Provide strategic direction for all aspects of West Mont and West Mont Foundation’s finance, accounting, and administrative functions.
- Communicate effectively as a member of the Executive team with West Mont staff, Board of Directors, and other key external stakeholders, including donors, financial institutions and advisors.
- Serve as a leader in upholding West Mont’s Mission, Vision, Core Values, and commitment to clients.
- Provide direct oversight to the Finance and Accounting, Human Resources, and Administrative teams.
- Translate long-term strategies into actionable, motivating, and measurable goals.
- Attract, develop, and retain talent to build a strong financial and administrative infrastructure.
Financial Strategy & Operations:
- Establish robust financial planning & analysis systems and procedures that support current operation, while identifying and vetting opportunities for growth and long-term sustainability.
- Develop and oversee annual budget for West Mont and West Mont Foundation including, preparing budget projections and recommended funding allocations for programs, identifying and resolving accounting system errors and issues, reconciling accounts, and managing adjustments in accounting systems.
- Prepare financial statements and reports for Executive team and Board of Directors as requested.
- Ensure administrative efficiency by identifying strengths, weaknesses, and potential opportunities to maximize revenue to support West Mont’s mission.
- Establish short and long-term goals and objectives for Finance and Accounting, and administrative teams to ensure compliance and operational excellence.
- Develop and oversee internal controls and procedures for budget management, cash and credit management, and investment and divestiture strategy.
- Manage the short and long-term capital structure and fixed assets to finance the company's strategy, sustain growth, raise debt and equity financing, and monitor the company's cost of capital.
- Oversee the company's cash and liquidity including short and long-term working capital requirements and investment of excess cash.
· Assist with management of fleet and program facilities, including purchases of major equipment, machines, and vehicles.
· Advises management of actions taken and informs them of course of action that will ensure accuracy and compliance with contractual and budgetary constraints.
· Review of closing entries for accounting including those related to accrued or deferred revenue.
· Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Risk & Compliance Management:
- Identify, mitigate, and monitor business risks, integrating risk mitigation processes into line management.
- Lead preparation of West Mont and West Mont Foundation 990’s, and all other contractual and federal requirements to meet 501c3 status.
- Ensure fiscal compliance of West Mont programs, including grant and philanthropic activities, with all State and Federal regulations.
· Act as Trustee for company 401(k) plans, including awareness of ERISA changes, preparation of audit documents, form 5500 balances to audited financials, and preparation of employee benefits for TASC
- Oversee additional activities such as managing legal documents/contracts, real estate procurement or lease negotiations, etc.
· Maintain confidentiality of all West Mont transactions and pertinent client care and employee information to assure all rights are protected.
Requirements
Education
- Bachelor's Degree
- CPA or equivalent; CMA preferred. Neither is required to be current.
Experience
- Experience in Accounting with progressively more complex management, including experience as a CFO or in a senior Accounting role
- Experience working in organizations with $20 million plus annual budget
- Experience working across multiple industries
Demonstrable Skills

- Proven track record of building cohesive, highly productive teams.
- Strong financial administration leadership skills with a deep understanding of financial accounting systems, audits, budgeting, financial forecasting, and GAAP accounting.
- Ability to work at both granular and strategic levels.
