What Will I do in my role as CFO?
The CFO will direct, coordinate and be responsible for the financial administration, accounting, statistical reporting, budgeting and administrative financial procedures of all facilities of CWP.
Execute the company's financial strategy and develop plans for growth to increase company operating margin while also reducing expenditure.
Responsibilities:
- Direct and coordinate the financial activities of all the facilities of the CWP. Direct new, and revise existing, accounting procedures to provide complete and accurate records of the homes assets, liabilities, and financial transactions. Oversees all internal controls and makes adjustments as needed or recommended by auditors. Recommend, in conjunction with the Director of Human Resources, salary wage and employee benefit adjustments.
- Assure that only generally acceptable accounting principles shall be utilized as set forth by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Federal Accounting Standards Board.
- Assure compliance with all third party reimbursement regulations, requirements, and reports.
- Attend meetings and seminars relative to position and take advantage of the in-service and continuing education opportunities.
- Ensures that the homes are adequately insured both professional, liability and asset insurances, including Board of Directors' insurance.
- Manages cash flow of all corporations to assure the financial stability of CWP. Reviews cash requirements aging report to determine invoices to be paid based on cash availability and/or demand.
- Coordinates with accounting staff the budget preparation process, including assistance to individual departments in review and preparation of budget worksheets.
- Prepares for review and submission, Medicare and Medicaid cost reports.
- Prepares and/or reviews all corporate tax returns and filings with office manager.
- Prepare all budgets and reports based on requirements of the New York State Department of Health, the New York State Board of Social Services, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development requirements, and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, or its' successor. Prepare monthly financial and comparative reports to reflect variances in income and expenditures for all facilities. Prepare cash flow reports for all facilities.
- Makes recommendations to the President/CEO concerning reduction of operational costs and maximizing organizing revenues.
- Make arrangements for an annual external audit by a reputable Certified Public Accountant firm or individual of all the financial records of each facility and the presentation of the audit to the Board of Directors of each facility
- Provide the President/CEO and when requested, the Board of Directors of each facility, with explanations of financial concerns.
- Coordinate with President/CEO and the CWP Board of Directors the method in which the Foundation's portfolio is invested.
- Supply Board of Directors with amount for each facility to be spent on capital. Coordinate with executive staff and designated department heads on all capital purchases. Prioritizes capital purchases based on resident needs, survey issues, cost savings and reimbursement opportunities. Report capital purchases to the Board of Directors.
- Oversees the preparation of internal monthly financial statements for all corporations of CWP for accuracy. These financial statements are presented to the Board of Directors as designated by the schedule for use and interpretation by Board of Directors.
Qualifications:
- Five to seven years as an accountant with supervisory and management experience, including knowledge of medical accounting procedures.
- Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance with a major in Accounting, preferred.
