Our Client, La Familia Health in Sante Fe, NM, has retained our services to manage the recruitment of a Chief Financial Officer to join their team.

Overview:
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at La Familia Health leads and oversees all financial functions, including budgeting, accounting, treasury, grants management, reporting, billing and collections, payroll, procurement, internal controls, and insurance. The CFO ensures compliance with Federal, State, and local laws, GAAP, grant terms, and La Familia Health’s financial policies.
Ability to Relocate to: Santa Fe, NM (Relocation is required prior to start date.)
Work Location: This position requires in-person attendance; remote work is not an option.
Salary Range: $150,000 - $175,000
Responsibilities
Administration and Oversight:
- Collaborate with the CEO and Board of Directors to develop, update, and implement financial policies.
- Present monthly financial statements and key performance indicators to the Finance Committee and Board, including comparisons of operating results to budget and other key performance indicators such as productivity, selected financial metrics, and other projections and comparisons.
- Establish and maintain internal controls to protect, control, and preserve La Familia Health’s assets and maintain a strong fiscal position.
- Develops and maintains appropriate programs of compliance and risk management for high risk financial programs, functions, systems, and key processes across the organization, working with the Compliance Officer to monitor and report on financial program oversight, results, and effectiveness;
- Participate in strategic and operational planning, translating goals into departmental objectives.
- Supervise Finance Department staff, fostering a productive and compliant work environment.
- Manage communications with regulatory agencies, financial advisors, auditors, and vendors.
- Maintain business liability, property, and casualty insurance programs.
- Negotiate contracts for professional services, subject to CEO and Board approval.
Budgeting, Accounting, and General Ledger:
- Lead the preparation of annual operating budgets, forecasts, and subsidiary budgets.
- Implement cost controls and oversee Accounts Receivable, .
- Maintain the chart of accounts and general ledger, approving necessary changes.
- Oversees preparation of and validates monthly financial statements and reports.
- Ensure accuracy of financial data for reports to the CEO, Board, and funding sources.
- Manage the annual audit process and provide necessary support for audit completion.
Revenue and Expense Cycles:
- Oversee the revenue cycle process, including patient intake, billing, and collections.
- Evaluate payer agreements to assess financial impact and risk.
- Develop and update the organization-wide fee schedule and discount policies.
- Manage grants accounting to track compliance with awards and reporting obligations.
- Supervise payroll processing and accounts payable systems.
- Manage company credit cards and lines of credit in compliance with policies.
General:
- Maintain knowledge of policies and requirements for Federally Qualified Health Centers.
- Participate in continuing education and relevant seminars.
- Represent La Familia Health at healthcare and community meetings as assigned.
- Provide training and orientation for finance staff and Board members.
- Maintain positive relationships with vendors and suppliers.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proficiency in financial analysis, budgeting, and cost controls.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Expertise in financial and business computer applications.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret financial information and regulations.
- Excellent report writing, business correspondence, and policy development skills.
- Effective presentation skills for organizational and public settings.
Education and Experience:
- Master’s degree in finance or accounting with at least 5 years of relevant experience, or
- Bachelor’s degree with at least 7 years of relevant experience.
- Recent healthcare accounting experience in a Federally Qualified Health Center is highly desirable.
- CPA designation is preferred.
