Chief Financial Officer (CFO) – Job Description
Location: Chillicothe, OH
Reports to: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
Status: Exempt, Full-Time
Salary: Competitive, commensurate with experience (anticipated range $80,000 - $90,000)

Position Summary
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a key member of the executive leadership team, responsible for overseeing all financial operations of Goodwill of South-Central Ohio. This role provides strategic financial leadership, ensures regulatory compliance, manages organizational risk, and partners with the CEO and Board of Trustees to drive long-term sustainability.
The CFO is accountable for budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, audits, and grant/contract management. They will ensure strong internal controls, optimize financial performance, and guide investment decisions that support the organization’s mission.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership
· Develop and oversee the organization’s financial strategy, ensuring alignment with mission and growth objectives.
· Lead annual budget preparation and provide financial forecasts, analysis, and recommendations to the CEO and Board.
· Manage cash flow, investments, and long-term financial planning.
Financial Operations & Compliance
· Ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll, tax reporting, accounts payable/receivable, and grant accounting.
· Oversee Medicaid billing, state and federal reporting, and compliance with all applicable regulations.
· Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Risk Management & Oversight
· Serve as liaison with external auditors, financial institutions, insurance providers, and state agencies.
· Manage organizational risk through insurance, internal controls, and compliance frameworks.
· Oversee contract administration, reporting obligations, and financial risk assessment.
Board & Executive Collaboration
· Prepare and present regular financial reports to the CEO and Board of Trustees.
· Provide strategic financial guidance to inform executive decision-making.
· Partner with program and operations leaders to align resources with organizational priorities.
Qualifications
Required
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration, extensive experience in lieu of degree.
· Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive financial leadership experience, with at least 3 years at a senior management or CFO level.
· Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting, grant management, and compliance.
· Proficiency with accounting and payroll software (e.g., QuickBooks, Paycom) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
· Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work across diverse teams and stakeholders.
Preferred
· Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA).
· Experience in healthcare, Medicaid billing, or government contracts.
