Job Overview
For nearly 30 years, Jasper Construction Services has established ourselves as a premier general contractor throughout the state of Iowa specializing in heavy civil construction projects. We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead our financial operations and help guide our family-owned company for future growth. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the organization, ensuring compliance with regulations, and driving the company’s financial performance. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership and management capabilities and a deep understanding of financial management principles.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement financial strategies to support the company's goals and objectives.
- Oversee corporate accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting processes.
- Prepare and present regular financial reports to management team.
- Oversee payroll processing, employee benefits, and maintaining employee records.
- Oversee subcontractor payables and reporting required on construction projects.
- Ensure timely and accurate invoicing, payment processing, and collection of outstanding receivables.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Partner with an external CPA firm to manage year-end preparation and auditing.
Team Leadership and Development
- Lead, mentor, develop, and motivate office staff to ensure accurate and efficient operations.
- Assist management team with all other administrative needs and assignment of duties to office staff.
- Evaluate and implement financial software and systems to improve efficiency and reporting capabilities.
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or closely related field. Master's degree or CPA not required, but beneficial.
- 5+ years of related accounting/finance experience.
- Proven experience in financial reporting, cash management, sales tax, financial statement preparation, and cost analysis.
- Strong leadership skills with experience in managing team members.
- Strong organizational, planning, problem solving, and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and time management skills.
- Ability to prioritize, multi-task, meet deadlines, and work in a team environment.
- Strong computer and software skills.
- Extensive knowledge of financial concepts including corporate finance, fiscal management, and risk management.
