1–2 days per week | Australia-based with International Experience
About Us
Pace Live is one of Australia’s leading independent theatrical producers, creating and touring shows across Australia, New Zealand, the United States, the United Kingdom, and beyond. Our flagship productions include A Taste of Ireland and A Celtic Christmas by A Taste of Ireland, alongside new works in development for Off West End, Off Broadway, and the West End. We are a fast-growing company with big ambitions — producing large-scale international tours while also building new theatrical projects from the ground up.
At the heart of our company is the balance of creativity and commerce. We are seeking a part-time Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our leadership team and help shape the financial future of our business. This is a fractional role (1–2 days per week), ideal for a senior finance professional who thrives in dynamic, project-driven industries and wants to make a tangible impact.
The Role
As CFO, you will be responsible for the financial management, reporting, and strategic planning that supports our productions and tours worldwide. Working alongside the Producers, Directors, and key team members, you will bring clarity, structure, and insight to the business, ensuring we make the right decisions across multiple companies, entities, and currencies.
This role goes beyond compliance and bookkeeping — it is about analysis, strategy, and steering the financial direction of an ambitious international entertainment company. From budgeting tours across continents to managing cash flow through seasonal cycles, your input will directly shape the viability and success of our productions.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide financial leadership across the Pace Live group of companies, operating internationally
- Oversee and produce accurate reporting, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow forecasts
- Create and monitor budgets across theatrical productions, international tours, and new projects in development
- Manage cash flow cycles and ensure liquidity through the ups and downs of performance schedules and touring demands
- Monitor and advise on currency fluctuations and cross-border financial structures
- Support strategic planning for both short-term productions and long-term expansion goals
- Ensure financial compliance, governance, and best practice across all entities
- Advise the leadership team in making financially sound decisions for shows, tours, and new ventures internationally
- Develop strategies to optimise how we use our money to grow and scale the company sustainably
About You
- Australian-based, with strong working knowledge of international business operations (UK and/or US experience required)
- Proven experience in a CFO, Finance Director, or senior finance role (fractional/part-time experience welcome)
- Demonstrated expertise in reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and cash flow management
- Strategic mindset with the ability to translate numbers into actionable insights for decision-making
- Experience with theatre, live events, or touring productions highly regarded (or a strong interest in learning this unique sector)
- Comfortable managing the complexities of multi-entity structures, cross-border operations, and project-based revenue streams
- Willing and able to travel to the company’s office once per month (all travel, accommodation, and stipend provided)
- Collaborative and communicative, able to work closely with a creative leadership team while offering firm financial guidance
