Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for a Business Operations Manager, located in the Kansas City Metropolitan Area. The Business Operations Manager will oversee daily operations, manage programs, and handle financial responsibilities. The role also involves implementing business strategies, analyzing operational performance, and ensuring efficient resource management to support the organization's goals and missions.
Financial Management
• Oversee accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and support the annual audit process.
• Manage cash flow, payables, contribution records, and fixed asset schedules.
• Collaborate with the Lead Pastor and Finance Committee on budgeting and financial strategy.
• Establish measurable financial goals (e.g., timely monthly close, variance reports delivered within 5-7 days, maintaining reserves at agreed levels).
Payroll & Staff Support
• Manage bi-weekly payroll and benefits administration.
• Assist in onboarding new staff and ensuring appropriate payroll documentation.
• Work with leadership to prepare compensation recommendations and housing allowance approvals.
• Provide quarterly staff compensation and benefits reports to the Lead Pastor and Finance Committee.
Administrative Operations
• Maintain vendor relationships and oversee insurance coverage.
• Ensure the church’s office technology and systems meet staff needs in partnership with IT support.
• Provide reports and analysis to help guide leadership decisions.
- • Track and report on key operational metrics (e.g., insurance claims resolved, contracts updated annually).
Key Responsibilities
- Manage accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, and audits.
- Oversee payroll and benefits administration.
- Maintain vendor relationships and insurance coverage.
- Provide financial insights and reports to church leadership.
- Ensure effective use of office technology and administrative systems.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years of experience in finance or business management (church or nonprofit experience preferred).
• Proficiency with accounting software, payroll systems, and Microsoft Office.
• Experience with ShelbyNext and TruPay is a plus.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to adapt quickly and work collaboratively with staff and ministry leaders.
• High level of integrity and commitment to the mission of the church.
