Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
trak group is partnering with a hyper connected marketing agency, who offers a multi-headed force of strategy, creative, dev and media working to build unstoppable marketing ecosystems in hiring their next CFO.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic financial leadership: lead budgeting, rolling forecasts, long range planning, scenario modeling and KPI development to support growth and margin objectives.
- Financial reporting & controls: own month/quarter/year close, GAAP financial reporting, external audits, and implement robust internal controls.
- Revenue recognition & contract accounting: ensure correct revenue recognition and billing for agency models, retained services, production, programmatic/ad tech, subscriptions and multielement contracts.
- Tax strategy & compliance: lead corporate tax planning and compliance (federal, state & local, and international where applicable); manage relationships with tax advisors; own tax provision and filings. Prior tax experience before joining media is required.
- Treasury & cash management: optimize cash flow, working capital, credit facilities, banking relationships and billing/collections processes for agency cash cycles.
- FP&A & analytics: build scalable FP&A processes, dashboards and reporting that connect media performance metrics to financial outcomes (client profitability, campaign margins, ROAS analysis).
- Commercial partnering: support pricing, proposals, client contract reviews, production cost management, and margin improvement initiatives.
- Systems & ops: oversee accounting systems, ERP/financial stack, payroll, and finance automation (NetSuite/Oracle/other ERP experience preferred); be prepared to lead hands on system implementations and process improvements.
Qualifications:
- Previous Accounting and Finance leadership at a marketing, advertising, or media organization.
- Prior public accounting experience (preferred)
- Tax experience (in practice or inhouse)
- Deep understanding of revenue recognition rules applicable to advertising/agency models and digital ad tech
- Strong GAAP knowledge, experience managing external audits and implementing financial controls.
- Expertise in FP&A, treasury, cash flow forecasting, and ERP/financial system implementations.
- Demonstrated balance of strategic thinking and hands on execution — comfortable with tactical operational work as well as high level strategy.
- Exceptional leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills; experience presenting to executive teams and boards.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance
- CPA preferred.
- Experience with NetSuite (preferred), Oracle, Adaptive Insights, or similar ERP/FP&A systems.
- Background with programmatic/adtech economics, retail media, or D2C subscription models.
- Experience scaling finance teams in a fast growing agency environment.
- M&A experience (preferred)
