JOB TITLE: CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER

The CFO is responsible for directing and overseeing the company's financial activities, including financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, accounting, risk management, and reporting. As a key executive team member, the CFO will collaborate closely with other senior leaders to develop strategies that ensure long-term profitability and stability of the company. The ideal candidate will have deep financial expertise, strong leadership skills, and experience guiding companies through periods of growth and transformation.
Responsible for the efficient running of the US subsidiary Finance Department Functions.
Provides financial and strategic reports to the Head Office CFO and to the Senior Management team of Geismar North America Inc.
Position
- Oversee the operations of the accounting and financial department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department's goals and objectives
- Participate to information systems strategy (and especially ERP) to ensure performance measurement and internal control weaknesses resolution
- Manages the accounting and controlling staff.
- Maintains a documented system of financial related policies and procedures.
- Reports to both general manager of the entity and the head office CFO
- Be member of local Executive Committee to participate to global strategy and business model related decisions
General responsibilities
- Manage monthly and annual closings: ensure accurate and prompt financial reporting both externally (auditors, regulatory bodies) and meet both managements and HQ group reporting requirements
- Monitor cash balances and cash forecasts.
- Ensure that sufficient funds are available to meet ongoing operational and capital investment requirements, plan short and long-term financing.
- Reduce working capital needs by optimizing inventories, supplier, and customer payment terms.
- Ensure adequate procedures are in place to maintain sufficient control on expenditure commitments, supplier invoices control and payment processing.
- Coordinate with the auditors the tax calculation and filing, optimize tax and customs charges
- Develop performance measurement and KPI.
- Implement operational best practices.
- Responsible for the day-to-day management of finance administrative staff.
- Ensure value for money of supplier contracts.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Ensure adequate procedures are in place to assess clients’ credit risk and authorize credit to customers.
- Coordinate with headquarters the issuance of performance bonds, LC, etc.
- Ensure that accounts payable are paid in a timely manner.
- Ensure that accounts receivable is collected promptly.
- Ensure that unpaid invoices (customer) are monitored on a regular basis and collected on a timely basis.
- Ensure that periodic bank reconciliations are completed.
- Ensure that required debt payments are made on a timely basis.
- Maintain a system of controls over accounting and cash transactions.
Reporting
- Work with the auditors to ensure the accounts are certified each year and audited accounts are issued before April 30th.
- Prepare the annual budget in coordination with the general manager.
- Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management.
- Provide a system of cost management and long-term project reports.
- Develop Business-controlling skills and provide operational business support to management, analyze profitability by ranges of products, business lines…
- Provide financial analyses as needed (pricing decisions, contract negotiations, etc.).
Risk Management and Compliance
- Construct and monitor reliable control systems.
- Maintain appropriate insurance coverage.
- Ensure that the company complies with all legal and regulatory requirements (including Import and Export regulatory).
- Ensure that record keeping meets the requirements of auditors and government agencies.
- Report risk issues to the Group CFO.
- Maintain relations with external auditors and investigate their findings and recommendations.
- Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and filings.
- Ensure that changes in legislation relating both Financial and HR are implemented correctly within the organization.

Profile
- Experience in industrial and international environments, ideally railway or Infrastructure with project accounting and risk analysis
- Analytical, enquiry and computer skills, especially industrial ERP’s, a knowledge of M3 system would be a bonus
- 15 and 25 years of experience, including significant financial management experience in a stand-alone mid-sized company

Pay: $145,000.00 per year
