Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Chief Financial Officer to join our team. As the CFO this position is responsible for the development, interpretation, coordination and administration of the organization’s policies on finance including short- and long-range planning. Responsible for maintenance of records and procedures to adequately safeguard the assets of the organization. Responsible for internal controls, processing, development and operations analysis.
Responsibilities
Planning
- Collaborates with other managers in defining the organization’s existing programs, evaluating new programs and in translating strategic goals and objectives into resource requirements.
- Maintains knowledge base of industry changes and new regulations. Their effect on the organization, and of prospective/negotiated reimbursement regulations and agreements. Participates in local, state, and regional activities that contribute to knowledge base.
- Keeps administration consistently advised of activities with written recommendations for solutions. Maintains current knowledge of health care accounting and reimbursement issues. Develops reports and recommends changes.
- Monitors cash for availability to meet obligations. Alerts administration to any forthcoming deficiencies through a cash flow reporting system.
- Reviews and compiles reports of the financial statements, monthly statistics, utilization, warrants, collections and bad debt write-offs for the board reports to be presented at the Board of Trustees monthly meeting.
- Responsible for determining when and from whom capital budget items will be purchased.
- Understands and administers the function of Hospital District.
Budgeting
- Works with department managers throughout the annual budgeting process and the subsequent implementation. Prepares all budget packages as required.
- Prepares financial budget variances analysis of operations and provides recommendations for administration. Must prepare a three-year capital budget.
- Responsible for review and recommendation of adjustments in the charge master.
- Forecast future industry trends and incorporate them into the budget.
- Monitors large budget items and completes yearly analysis to determine the best price.
Reporting
- Responsible for the general accounting functions which include the preparation and maintenance of records, reports and monthly reconciliations and general ledger activity on an accurate and timely basis.
- Has a working knowledge of the current data processing system, error messages, day end and backup functions of the system.
- Maintains chart of accounts and other table files. Performs maintenance as required for accurate financial reporting.
- Responsible for all balance sheet reconciliations on a routine basis.
- Assists with fixed assets and depreciation schedule preparations to insure timely monthly reporting.
- Assists auditors with yearly report and cost report.
- Prepares required reports and maintains supporting documentation. Maintains knowledge of the industry changes, new regulations and their effect on the organization.
- Consistently reviews adequacy of organizational accounting systems and their ability to meet standards of current health care requirements and regulations. Makes recommendations for necessary changes.
- Understands the functions and impact of yearly cost report.
Compliance
- Prepares required reports and maintains supporting documentation.
- Assists auditor with the yearly report.
- Files form 990 with the RIS yearly.
Qualifications
- A degree in Public Health Administration or Business Administration, or a health related degree is preferred but not required.
- Must have, as a minimum, one (1) year experience in a supervisory capacity in a hospital or long-term care facility.
- Must possess a current, unencumbered Nursing Home Administrator's license or meet the licensure requirements of this State
- Must have advanced training in hospital or long-term care administration.
- Must be knowledgeable of reimbursement regulations and nursing practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines pertaining to long-term care administration.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $150,000.00 - $200,000.00 per year
