The Opportunity
Access Consulting Group is managing a search for a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) on behalf of our client. The company is a well-established growth-stage construction services firm with revenue exceeding $90M and multiple offices across the U.S.
This is a pivotal moment for the business: after decades of steady success, the company is scaling significantly and requires a strategic process driven CFO. For the right leader, this represents the chance to join a growth-stage, multi-office enterprise and play a transformational role in driving financial excellence, strengthening systems, and serving as a true strategic partner to the CEO and executive team.
The Role
The CFO will scale and formalize the finance function, oversee risk and cash management, and serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO and executive team.
Key responsibilities:
- Cash Flow Optimization –Improve forecasting, liquidity management, and capital allocation.
- Risk Management – Lead financial and contractual risk oversight in a project-driven business.
- Financial Systems & Controls – Assess the current ERP (Foundation), drive improvements, and lead potential evaluation and implementation of a more scalable system.
- Strategic Planning & Modeling – Partner with the CEO and leadership team on long-term planning and scenario modeling.
- Team Development – Lead the finance and accounting team including the controller, AP/AR staff, and insurance/risk functions.
While the CFO’s core remit is finance, there may be future opportunities to oversee additional corporate functions (e.g., HR, IT, Legal) depending on skillset and interest.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will bring a blend of hands-on financial leadership and strategic vision.
Experience:
- At least 10+ years of senior finance leadership, ideally in construction or related project-based industries.
- Experience in companies of at least $50M+ in annual revenue, with proven ability to help scale into the $100M+ range.
- Strong preference for construction industry background.
- Advanced degree or certification preferred (MBA, CPA, CFA).
- ERP implementation or upgrade experience; familiarity with Foundation, Sage, or similar platforms.
Leadership Qualities:
- Hands-on operator and strategic advisor in equal measure.
- Strong presence and effective people manager— able to set clear expectations and achieve objectives.
- Change agent with resilience, determination, and adaptability.
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive base salary in the $200K-$240K range, commensurate with experience, with additional performance-based bonus opportunity.
