Position: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Overview
Smith Fertilizer & Grain is a family-owned agribusiness with multiple locations across south central Iowa. We’re looking for an experienced, forward-thinking Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our leadership team in Knoxville. This is an in-person position that plays a key role in guiding our company’s financial strategy, driving profitability, and helping shape the future of our business.
Responsibilities
- Lead all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
- Develop and execute financial strategies that drive growth and long-term profitability.
- Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives and group buying opportunities.
- Provide strategic insight and analysis to support company goals and major business decisions.
- Collaborate closely with management and sales teams to improve performance and margins.
- Oversee accounting, cash flow management, and financial controls to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Evaluate new opportunities in operations, procurement, and capital investment to maximize returns.
- Serve as a key advisor to ownership, offering leadership in both financial and strategic planning areas.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or MBA preferred.
- Proven experience in a senior financial leadership role.
- Background in commodity-based industries strongly preferred; agribusiness experience a plus but not required.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze financial data and translate insights into actionable strategies.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and guide cross-functional teams.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a focus on efficiency, profitability, and long-term sustainability.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $115,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
