We are seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead financial strategy, regulatory compliance, and fiscal operations for a large nonprofit healthcare organization. This role works closely with executive leadership and the board’s finance team to guide long-range planning, grant management, revenue cycle performance, and overall financial stability. The CFO oversees all major financial functions for an organization with an annual budget exceeding $20 million, including federal grants, patient-service revenue, cost reporting, and population-health funding.
The ideal candidate has significant experience in nonprofit or community healthcare finance and a strong understanding of federal requirements and reimbursement structures.
This position offers remote or hybrid flexibility with periodic on-site presence.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute multi-year financial plans aligned with organizational and population-health goals.
- Lead annual budgeting, cash-flow forecasting, and capital-expenditure planning.
- Model reimbursement scenarios under PPS, alternative payment models, and value-based care contracts.
- Manage UDS financial tables, cost reports, and Medicare/Medicaid cost-report submissions.
- Optimize 340B program savings and ensure full compliance.
- Maintain accurate sliding-fee-scale calculations and related financial policies.
- Ensure compliance with HRSA Site Visit Protocol, FTCA, and OMB Uniform Guidance.
- Oversee independent audits, IRS Form 990, and state charity-care reporting.
- Implement internal controls to prevent fraud, waste, and abuse.
- Supervise billing, coding, and collections to support high clean-claim rates and low days in A/R.
- Direct budgeting, drawdowns, and required financial reporting for federal, state, and private grants.
- Lead a finance team that includes a controller, grants accountant, and revenue cycle manager.
- Provide staff guidance on GAAP, fund accounting, and cost-allocation methodologies.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- CPA or MBA strongly preferred.
- 7+ years of progressive financial leadership.
- 3+ years in a nonprofit healthcare or community health center environment overseeing federal cost reporting, UDS, and 340B.
- Expert knowledge of HRSA PAL requirements, Medicare/Medicaid PPS calculations, and OMB Uniform Guidance.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, ERP systems such as Sage Intacct, Netsmart, or Epic, and data analytics tools.
- Experience with alternative payment models and population-health analytics preferred.
- Successful history securing supplemental federal funding preferred.

- Base salary $100,000+, depending on experience.
