CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER (CFO)
General Information:
It is critical that the Chief Financial Officer be capable of integrating smoothly into the senior management, fitting into the organization’s culture. This position establishes, coordinates, and maintains the accounting and financial systems of the company and divisions. The CFO is responsible for developing relevant policies and procedures related to the area of responsibility. This position is responsible for four functional areas including Accounting, Financial Management, Financial Reporting, and Administration. These areas encompass accounting systems, account reconcilement, financial reporting, regulatory reporting, tax compliance, cost accounting, financial analysis, purchasing, risk management, liquidity, Asset/Liability management, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and ancillary administrative services. This position will be based in Waynesboro, TN.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
· Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff in the department.
· Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
· Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
· Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Applies the principles of Continuous Improvement to study and improve the critical processes within his/her area of responsibility.
· Work with the executive team to maintain the integrity of the accounting system along with best practices.
· Responsible for the timely preparation of fiscal and regulatory financial reports.
· Responsible for remaining current on GAAP, regulatory, and tax accounting issues.
· Work with senior management in the development of a strategic plan document, budgets and forecasts along with action plan to achieve stated objectives and goals.
· Responsible for the preparation, verification, and accuracy of monthly Performance Statements in accordance with agreed upon performance standards.
· Responsible for preparation, verification, and accuracy of overall financial reporting in accordance with agreed upon performance standards.
· Primary responsibility for cost control through monitoring, challenging, and consulting.
· Responsible for negotiating certain vendor contracts.
· Responsible for creating and maintaining financial performance measurement systems.
· Responsible for recommending and maintaining appropriate insurance coverages.
· Responsible for the accounting system development and reporting of any future affiliated companies.
· Interprets financial reports as to exceptions, variances, trends, etc.
· Ability to communicate effectively with external auditors, regulators and board of directors.
· Responsible for supervising all accounting aspects of the company.
· Provide superior customer service by resolving problems efficiently and responding timely.
· Actively seek to add and enhance knowledge regarding developments and current trends in the industry.
· Seek counsel of supervisor on issues as appropriate
· Cross train for other positions to cover when necessary.
· Aid in the safekeeping of all company systems and private information.
· Recommend policies and procedures as they relate to area of responsibility.
· Timely responses to inquiries for information to customers, staff, and vendors
· Support the Wayne Halfway House, Inc. mission statement and approach to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
· Carry out other duties as may be assigned or directed.
Required Skills and abilities:
· Accounting or Finance related background
· Eight to ten years of work experience
· Five to seven years of industry-related experience, or equivalent work experience
· Possesses an in-depth knowledge of GAAP and regulatory issues.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

· Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS (Netchex) and other software for financial and operational purpose (Ex: Sage Intacct, Concur, Bill.com).
Education and Experience
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field
· Master’s degree preferred.
· 5+ years of experience in a managerial role
