As CFO, you will oversee all financial functions of the company-including financial strategy, capital management, FP&A, accounting, statutory reporting, and regulatory compliance. You'll partner closely with the CEO and executive team to drive disciplined growth, ensure strong financial controls, and build the infrastructure needed to support long-term success.
This role is fully onsite in Southern California, and candidates must be able to work in office or travel frequently.
Key Responsibilities
Build and lead all financial operations, including GAAP and statutory accounting, FP&A, budgeting, forecasting, and capital planning.
Develop and implement the financial strategy for a newly formed insurer, including growth modelling, profitability analysis, and long-term planning.
Establish and maintain strong internal controls, financial policies, and reporting standards.
Oversee regulatory financial filings and interact with state insurance departments.
Partner with underwriting, actuarial, investments, and operations to ensure alignment between financial goals and business execution.
Manage external partnerships, including auditors, consultants, reinsurers, and banking partners.
Lead the development of financial systems, tools, and processes as the company scales.
Present financial results, risks, and opportunities to the Board and investors.
Qualifications
Extensive financial leadership experience within the insurance industry
Strong understanding of insurer capital structures, statutory accounting, and insurance regulatory frameworks.
Proven track record building or scaling finance functions.
Experience working closely with boards and investors.
Strategic mindset with hands-on execution capability.
Ability to work onsite in Southern California.
