We’re EFLR Group, a fast-growing education and licensing business that includes TechSkill Academy, National Licensing, and Open Education Academy and we’re looking for someone who makes things happen.
This role is for a Business Operations Manager who can run the day-to-day of a growing, founder-led business and keep momentum when there are a lot of moving parts. You’ll work closely with the CEO and take real ownership of execution across the business.
If you’re the type who sees what needs doing, sorts it, and doesn’t wait to be asked, keep reading.
**Brisbane based, In-office role
**OTE around $175,00K per annum
What this role is really about
There’s no shortage of ideas or decisions here. What we need is someone who turns those decisions into action and makes sure things don’t stall, drift, or quietly die.
You’ll be the person who keeps priorities clear, follows things through, and steps in when something’s stuck. Sometimes that’s coordination, sometimes it’s problem-solving, and sometimes it’s rolling your sleeves up and fixing it yourself.
What you’ll actually be doing
- Keeping the business running smoothly day to day
- Turning direction from the CEO into clear next steps and outcomes
- Driving projects through to completion (not just kicking them off)
- Making sure people know what they own and holding them to it
- Spotting issues early and fixing them properly
- Cutting through noise, complexity, and low-value activity
This is a hands-on role. You’ll be close to the work and close to the people doing it.
What “good” looks like in this role
You’ll know you’re doing well when:
- The CEO isn’t chasing things, because they’re already moving
- Weekly priorities are clear, realistic, and delivered
- Projects move forward without constant follow-ups
- People are clear on ownership, deadlines, and expectations
- Problems are dealt with early, not after they escalate
- Issues don’t keep resurfacing because root causes are fixed
- Meetings turn into actions, not more meetings
- The business feels calmer, sharper, and more in control, even when it’s busy
In short: things run better, with less friction and less slow down.
This will suit you if you:
- Take ownership by default
- Are comfortable operating without perfect structure
- Can be direct, calm, and fair when things aren’t working
- Prefer progress over perfection
- Like being close to the action
People from logistics, manufacturing, operations-heavy environments, or complex service businesses often do very well in this role, especially if you’re used to managing moving parts, deadlines, and real consequences when things don’t get done.
This probably won’t suit you if you:
- Want a highly corporate, policy-heavy environment
- Need everything mapped out before acting
- Avoid difficult conversations
- Prefer strategy over execution
Your background might include:
- Several years in operations, management, or a similar hands-on leadership role
- Experience in a fast-moving SME or scale-up
- Working closely with a founder or senior leader
- Leading people across different teams
The honest bit
This is a senior role with high expectations.
You’ll have autonomy and trust, but you’ll also be accountable for outcomes. If you like rolling up your sleeves, fixing things, and genuinely helping a business run better, this will be a great fit.
If you’re looking for something more structured or hands-off, it probably won’t be.
If you're still here, we look forward to receiving your application!
