Position Description
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented CFO to join our team. This role involves overseeing accounting operations, financial reporting, and compliance, ensuring the accuracy of financial records, maintaining general ledger accounts and preparing financial statements in accordance with GAAP. This position requires a strategic thinker with excellent analytical skills, capable of managing multiple financial activities concurrently and maintaining the company's financial health. The ideal candidate will have experience in integrating new programs, systems, policies, and protocols within a rapidly changing organization. The CFO will support the overall financial operations of the organization under the remote direction of the relocating Chief Financial Officer and onsite Chief Executive Officer.
Duties/Responsibilities
Financial Responsibilities:
- Maintain accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting and Revenue Recognition under guidance of relocating remote CFO and active CEO.
- Creation of annual budget and financial forecasts and report variances.
- Prepare and publish timely monthly, quarterly & annual financial statements.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and resolve discrepancies.
- Support in the preparation of regulatory reporting including 1099’s & ACA reporting for multiple companies.
- Oversee payroll and guide from a reporting perspective with knowledge of applicable laws and regulations.
Compliance and Risk Management:
- Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
- Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
- Participate in documenting business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
- Collaborate with business lines to develop and oversee program financial audit, and Federal/ State regulatory compliance requirements.
- Assist in the preparation of audit schedules and coordinate audit processes.
Financial Analysis and Reporting:
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements to support decision-making.
- Ensure the preparation of consolidated financial statements for multiple business lines.
- Conduct variance analysis and financial performance review.
- KPI direction and creation with dashboards to monitor daily, weekly and monthly performance.
- Create solutions to complex cash management trends with creative ways to predict future needs.
Strategic Planning:
- Support the CEO with the strategic financial planning and execution of corporate initiatives within multiple business lines.
- Support system implementations and upgrades within special projects or process improvement initiatives.
- Facilitate initiatives to scale current business operations within the current timeline track of ten years.
- Create & explain pro-forma analysis reports for potential lines of business.
- Design and implement a documented process to open a non-profit line of business to support the CEO's vision.
- Engage with members of the executive leadership team as a collaborative team leader and driver of growth.
- Liaise between executive leadership and middle management with finesse and culture awareness in every endeavor.
- Serve as a trusted advisor using metrics to facilitate solid financial management with a heart to fast track growth without compromising core values of the business.
Systems and Processes:
- Ensure efficient and effective use of technology to streamline financial processes and reporting.
- Continuously evaluate and improve financial processes to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly and concisely to executive leadership.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
- Proficient with Quickbooks, Microsoft Office Suite, Procare, G-suite & Intuit Enterprise Solutions.
- High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
- Ability to easily maneuver between Zoom, Teams and phone communication as the role is based onsite in Fort Walton Beach, Florida but will be working with a transitioning remote CFO and onsite CEO.
- The ability to support multiple business units requires a solid understanding of intercompany transactions.
- Leader with ability to achieve team buy in for multiple projects and aggressively encourage change management.
Education, Certifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field;
- CPA License or CMA certification is preferred but not required.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting management experience, including at least 5 years in a Controller or Accounting Manager role.
- Preferable experience as CFO for at least 2 years.
- Proven experience in financial management, preferably within holding company/ multi-business line operation.
