Position: Chief Financial Officer
Company: Confidential National Mortgage Banker
Volume: Approximately $2B annually and growing
Location: National / Hybrid
Role Summary
We are a fast-growing national mortgage banker doing approximately $2B in annual volume and expanding. We are looking for a senior-level finance leader with deep mortgage industry experience who can both lead and do the work.
This role is responsible for the full financial operation of the company — branch P&Ls, corporate financials, accounting, reporting, and profitability management — while working closely with executive leadership, branch managers, sales leadership, and capital markets. This is not a hands-off CFO role. We need someone who understands the numbers, builds the reports, digs into variances, and can step in wherever needed to keep the business financially tight and transparent.
The right person understands mortgage banking economics, margin drivers, branch profitability, and operational leverage — and is comfortable rolling up their sleeves to make sure the numbers are right.

Financial Oversight and Leadership
· Oversee all corporate and branch financials across the organization
· Manage the accounting team and day-to-day financial operations

Mortgage-Specific Financial Management
· Understand and manage mortgage banking revenue streams including gain-on-sale, SRP, hedging, and servicing income
· Track and analyze pipeline, pull-through, margin, and funding performance
· Partner with capital markets to ensure financial reporting aligns with secondary market results
· Monitor warehouse, cash flow, and funding timing
Reporting and Transparency
· Produce clear, timely, and accurate financial reports for leadership
· Build branch-level and corporate dashboards that show true performance
· Provide forward-looking financial insight, not just historical reporting
· Ensure leadership always knows where the business actually stands
Technology and Systems
· Work within and optimize the company’s finance and loan systems, including
Loan Vision for accounting and financial reporting
· Encompass as the loan origination system
· Ensure financial data flows accurately between LOS, accounting, and capital markets systems

· Ensure financial systems support growth and scale
· Reduce manual work, errors, and delays in reporting

Culture and Collaboration
· Work closely with branch leaders, sales leadership, operations, and capital markets
· Be visible, accessible, and solution-oriented
· Support a culture of transparency, accountability, and performance
What We’re Looking For
This is not a theoretical finance role. We are looking for someone who has worked inside mortgage banking and understands how money really moves through the business.
The ideal candidate will have
· Deep experience in mortgage banking finance or accounting
· Experience managing branch and corporate P&Ls
· Strong understanding of gain-on-sale, margins, compensation, and expense structures
· Experience working with CPAs, auditors, and external accounting firms
· Hands-on experience with Loan Vision and Encompass or similar mortgage banking systems
· The ability to both lead a team and personally dive into financial detail
· A practical, collaborative, and execution-focused leadership style
Why This Role Matters
This role exists to make sure the company knows, at all times, where it is making money, where it is losing money, and where it needs to adjust. It ensures branch growth does not outpace financial discipline, and that leadership can make decisions based on real, accurate, and timely financial information.
