Position Summary
The Controller/CFO will oversee all accounting and financial operations for multiple entities within the company’s portfolio. This individual will be responsible for accurate and timely financial reporting, monthly closings, intercompany reconciliations, and financial analysis across several business lines. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on, detail-oriented leader who thrives in a dynamic, multi-entity real estate environment.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
· Oversee accounting operations for multiple entities (development, LIHTC, flips, and holding companies).
· Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
· Lead and complete monthly closes for all entities, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
· Maintain the general ledger and ensure accuracy across all entities.
· Prepare consolidated financial statements and internal reporting packages.
Intercompany & Entity Management
· Perform monthly intercompany entries, reconciliations, and eliminations.
· Track and manage capital contributions, distributions, and loans between entities.
· Ensure appropriate allocation of shared costs across companies.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysis
· Develop and monitor budgets and cash flow forecasts for various projects and divisions.
· Analyze financial performance by business segment (market-rate, LIHTC, flips, and holdings).
· Provide variance analysis and recommendations to improve profitability and efficiency.
· Support project-level pro forma updates and investor reporting.
Leadership & Oversight
· Manage accounting staff and coordinate with external accountants, auditors, and tax professionals.
· Maintain internal controls and ensure compliance with financial, regulatory, and investor requirements.
· Drive process improvements and automation within the accounting and reporting systems.
· Partner with leadership on strategic financial decisions, financing structures, and capital planning.
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or MBA strongly preferred).
· 5+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, preferably in real estate development or property management.
· Strong understanding of real estate accounting, including LIHTC, development draws, construction accounting, and entity consolidations.
· Experience managing multi-entity structures and intercompany transactions.
· Proficiency in QuickBooks, Yardi, AppFolio or other real estate accounting software.
· Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
· Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
