Position Summary
The Chief Financial Officer will lead all finance, accounting, pricing, compliance, and treasury functions for a government contractor. This is a senior executive role with full authority and accountability, requiring deep, hands-on government contracting expertise.
This role exists because our client wants finance, pricing, and compliance to be a strategic advantage — not a bottleneck or afterthought.
Key Responsibilities
Finance & Accounting Leadership
- Full ownership of accounting operations, financial reporting, and internal controls
- Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close
- Lead year-end audits and manage external auditors
Government Contracting Compliance
- Ensure compliance with FAR, CAS, and DCAA requirements
- Design and manage indirect rate structures and cost pools
- Lead government audits, rate negotiations, and compliance reviews
Pricing & Proposals
- Own development and approval of proposal cost volumes
- Ensure pricing compliance, accuracy, and alignment with actual cost structures
- Partner with capture and contracts teams throughout the proposal lifecycle
Banking & Treasury
- Manage all banking relationships, including Lines of Credit (LoC)
- Oversee cash flow forecasting tied to billing and collections
- Ensure compliance with loan covenants and liquidity requirements
Contracts & Partner Support
- Support financial aspects of contract negotiations, modifications, and closeouts
- Facilitate financial input for NDAs and Teaming Agreements
- Act as finance liaison with outside counsel and partner companies
Leadership & Governance
- Serve as a strategic partner to senior leadership
- Lead, mentor, and scale the finance and pricing teams
- Provide clear, decision-ready financial insights to leadership
Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (required)
- Master’s degree (MBA or MS Finance/Accounting) preferred
Experience
- Minimum 12+ years of government contracting finance experience
- 5–7+ years serving as CFO for a similar-size government contractor
- Significant experience with government contracts
- Direct, hands-on use of Deltek Costpoint in a government contracting environment (not delegated or supervisory-only)
- Proven leadership of DCAA audits and compliance activities
- Experience managing Lines of Credit and senior banking relationships
