Prairie South School Division #210 operates 40 schools across 24 rural and urban communities in southern Saskatchewan, spanning an area of over 32,000 square kilometers. The Division serves a diverse demographic that includes one large urban center, Moose Jaw, where the head office, learning department, maintenance facility, and a transportation office are located. Additionally, Prairie South encompasses six Hutterian colonies and two associate schools, reflecting the region’s rural and cultural diversity. The Division focuses on fostering educational excellence and community engagement across its schools.
As a key member of the Central Administrative Council, you will provide the financial strategic direction that empowers our classrooms. We are seeking a visionary leader to drive operational excellence across our Division, ensuring resources are aligned with our mission to serve students across southern
Saskatchewan. This is more than a finance role; it is a stewardship position overseeing Business Operations, Facilities, and Transportation, directly impacting the quality of education for our urban and rural communities.
Executive Leadership: Serve as a strategic partner to the Director of Education and the Board, translating educational goals into sustainable financial realities.
Operational Stewardship: Oversee a diverse portfolio including Facilities and Transportation, ensuring safe and efficient learning environments.
Fiscal Integrity: Lead the development of operating and capital budgets, ensuring compliance with Ministry of Education reporting, public sector accounting standards, and rigorous internal controls.
Risk & Governance: Manage the Division’s risk profile, including insurance, inventory control, and competitive bidding, legal, legislative and trade agreement requirements.
Our ideal candidate is a designated professional who balances technical expertise with high emotional intelligence. You understand the unique pulse of the Saskatchewan public sector and thrive in a collaborative, transparency-focused environment.
Education: CPA designation (preferred) or MBA in Finance/Business.
Experience: 5+ years of senior leadership experience, ideally within the public sector or a complex organization.
Competencies:
• Communication: Ability to translate complex financial data for diverse stakeholders (Board,
Ministry, Staff).
• Collaboration: A team-first mentality essential for working with the Senior Leadership Team and external partners.
• Data-Driven: Proficiency in analyzing large datasets to inform strategic decision-making.
