Why this role, why now
Our client is a product-led business entering a period of significant growth and organisational transition. With increasing scale, complexity and investment in systems, finance is evolving into a central strategic function underpinning performance, governance and future growth.
This is a pivotal executive appointment. The CFO will play a defining role in shaping the business through its next phase, providing leadership, challenge and commercial insight at Board level while building a finance function fit for scale.
This role is not suited to someone stepping up. It requires an experienced FD/CFO who has operated at executive level through growth, change and heightened complexity.
The role
As CFO, you will own the full finance agenda across strategy, control and performance. You will act as a trusted adviser to the CEO and Board, balancing strategic influence with operational rigour and hands-on leadership.
You will lead a sizeable, multi-disciplinary finance team, ensuring clarity of roles, strong controls, high-quality reporting and a culture of accountability as the business continues to scale.
Key accountabilities
- Define and execute the finance strategy aligned to the business’s growth and transformation agenda
- Act as principal financial adviser to the CEO and Board, influencing strategic, operational and commercial decisions
- Full ownership of financial control, statutory reporting, audit, tax and compliance
- Lead robust budgeting, forecasting, FP&A and KPI frameworks to support confident decision-making
- Oversee cashflow, working capital, revenue, pricing, margin and profitability management
- Drive continuous improvement across finance processes, systems, controls and data quality (ERP/CRM)
- Build, lead and develop a high-performing finance team with clear accountability and strong capability
- Lead corporate finance activity as required, including capex cases, funding and potential M&A or disposals
- Develop strong external relationships with banks, advisors, auditors and professional partners
About you
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) with substantial post-qualification experience
- Proven experience operating as a CFO/Finance Director within a product-led environment (e.g. manufacturing, retail, distribution or similar)
- Track record of leading finance through growth, organisational change and increasing complexity
- Commercially astute with strong expertise in FP&A, cash management and financial control
- Confident and credible at Board level, able to challenge constructively and influence senior stakeholders
- Hands-on, resilient and composed, comfortable operating at pace and navigating ambiguity
- Technically strong, systems-literate and highly capable in Excel and integrated finance platforms
Culture and leadership
This is a values-led organisation that prizes integrity, accountability and pride in performance. The CFO will role-model high standards, foster a culture of ownership, celebrate success and challenge where standards slip. This is a visible leadership role with real influence across the business.
Reward
Competitive base salary, plus bonus and benefits, aligned to experience and impact.
