About Us
MVR Retailers Pty Ltd is one of the leading companies in mobile phone accessories and repairs, operating under the brands “Mobile Experts” and “The Mobile Company.” With over 70 stores across Australia — including Sydney, Newcastle, Brisbane, Melbourne, Gold Coast, Adelaide, Canberra, and Perth — we’re proud to be a trusted name in retail and repair, with a central warehouse and a growing franchise model.
We’re looking for a hands-on, commercially sharp CFO who wants to be close to the numbers, fix real problems, lead a finance team, and play a key role in the next phase of the business — including a major MYOB to LS Central migration.
If you enjoy rolling up your sleeves, improving inventory discipline, strengthening cash flow, and partnering directly with the CEO on decisions that actually matter — this role will suit you.
The Role
As CFO, you will own the finance function end-to-end and work closely with the CEO and leadership team. You will be accountable for financial control, cash flow, inventory management, systems, and commercial decision-making across the group.
The role also has oversight of our warehouse entity and will support franchise expansion and growth initiatives.
This is not a purely strategic or advisory role — you will be hands-on and involved in the detail.
What You’ll Be Doing
Core Finance & Reporting
- Own monthly management accounts including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow
- Ensure accurate, timely reporting across all stores, warehouse, and head office
- Maintain strong month-end processes, reconciliations, and controls
- Oversee BAS, income tax, payroll tax, superannuation, and statutory compliance
- Oversee company insurances, renewals, and reporting
Cash Flow & Working Capital
- Manage daily and weekly cash flow forecasting
- Improve working capital, particularly inventory, supplier payments, rent, and stock levels
- Manage banking facilities, loans, and lender reporting
- Help the business manage seasonal cash flow pressure
Inventory & Warehouse Oversight
- Take ownership of inventory reporting and controls across stores and the warehouse
- Identify and address dead, slow-moving, and obsolete stock
- Improve stock turnover and inventory discipline in partnership with operations
- Ensure accurate inventory valuation, ageing, and provisioning
- Oversee financial performance of the warehouse entity
Store & Operational Finance
- Review store-level profitability and performance
- Identify underperforming stores and support turnaround or exit decisions
- Partner with operations on labour efficiency, margins, and pricing
- Improve visibility of key retail KPIs across the business
Commercial, Growth & Expansion
- Support decisions around store openings, closures, relocations, and store sales
- Support franchise expansion, including financial modelling, unit economics, and performance tracking
- Build financial models to support growth initiatives and scenario planning
- Experience with mergers and acquisitions will be beneficial, including evaluation and due diligence support
- Review leases, supplier contracts, and major commercial arrangements
- Provide clear, practical financial advice — not just reports
Systems & LS Central Migration
- Lead the end-to-end finance migration from MYOB to LS Central
- Act as the finance lead for the implementation, ensuring accounting integrity and continuity
- Define chart of accounts, dimensions, and reporting structures
- Oversee data migration including opening balances, inventory, and sub-ledgers
- Validate data and reconcile MYOB to LS Central
- Work closely with external implementation partners
- Establish post go-live reporting, controls, and month-end processes
Team & Leadership
- Lead and develop the existing finance team of 3
- Improve systems, processes, and reporting capability
- Drive accountability, consistency, and discipline across finance
About You
- Experience as a CFO, Head of Finance, or senior finance leader in an SME, retail, or multi-site business
- Strong cash-flow, inventory, and operational finance background
- Experience with ERP or finance system implementations
- Comfortable being hands-on and close to the detail
- CA / CPA qualified
- Commercial, practical, and straight-talking
