Position Overview
Burris Company, Inc., an outdoor and defense optics manufacturer, is looking for an experienced and strategic CFO to lead the finance function including financial planning, performance management, and process improvement initiatives of our U.S. outdoor optics business.
This role will partner directly with the General Manager and senior leadership to ensure strong financial governance, drive operational efficiency, and support long-term growth within the structure of a larger European parent organization.
The ideal candidate combines deep financial expertise with a modern, forward-looking mindset, including the ability to enhance processes through automation, advanced analytics, and AI-driven tools.
Salary plus up to 35% in management bonus objectives.
This position requires the person to live within 2 areas:
(1) Denver-Fort Collins area of Colorado with site located in Greeley, CO;
OR
(2) Cincinnati-Dayton area of Ohio with site located in Miamisburg, OH
Travel will be 50% with alternating weeks at each location REQUIRED.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership & Strategic Planning
- Coordination of a 10 people team across two locations.
- Lead the annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning processes.
- Provide financial guidance and strategic recommendations to the General Manager and leadership team.
- Support business decision-making through scenario modeling and performance analysis.
Controlling & Cost Management
- Acting as a business partner of the general manager in all controlling activities, including cost control, margin analysis, and operational KPIs.
- Drive product cost optimization initiatives while ensuring alignment with business priorities.
- Ensure financial discipline across all departments.
- Keep the inventory and working capital under control.
Reporting & Group Coordination
- Deliver timely, accurate, and insightful monthly financial reporting to local leadership and the corporate group.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, reporting standards, and group financial requirements.
- Act as the primary financial liaison between the U.S. organization and corporate headquarters.
ERP & Systems Oversight
· Manage and optimize ERP-based financial processes and implementation of the new ERP
- Partner with IT and operations to ensure data integrity and process efficiency across systems.
Process Improvement, Automation & AI Adoption
- Integration and improvement of current processes revising and automating current AS IS considering the use of AI technology and digital tools.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to modernize finance operations and increase scalability.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with sales, operations, supply chain, and marketing teams to support business performance.
- Provide financial input on new product launches, investments, and strategic initiatives.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 10 years of progressive finance experience, including leadership roles.
- Proven expertise in budgeting, forecasting, controlling, and cost management.
- Strong experience working with ERP systems, ideally JD Edwards (JDE) and E21.
- Proven expertise in dealing with external parties
- MBA or CPA preferred.
- Experience within a multinational organization or matrix structure, ideally with European corporate reporting exposure.
- Demonstrated ability to lead process improvement and implement automation or AI-based finance tools.
