Job Title: Chief Financial Officer
Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Chief Financial Officer to oversee the financial operations for our client, a fast-growing logistics and transportation company specializing in hauling services for construction, landscaping or general freight. The CFO will be responsible for managing accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial reporting, developing budgets, and providing strategic insight to support business decisions. This role is hands-on and requires someone comfortable working in a dynamic environment where they will wear multiple hats. The ideal candidate has successful experience with start-up businesses, establishing procedures and can be the owner’s right-hand person for the long haul.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish procedures and oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and credit lines.
- Develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, and financial performance metrics.
- Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Provide financial analysis to support strategic planning and operational decision-making.
- Ensure timely and accurate tax filings, coordinating with external CPA or tax advisors.
- Supervise and support bookkeeping or accounting staff to ensure efficient workflow, streamlining processes.
- Evaluate accounting software and systems to improve efficiency and reporting.
- Report directly to the business owner/CEO and serve as a key financial advisor.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, with prior experience as Controller or senior accountant (small business environment a plus).
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, budgeting, and financial analysis.
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and Excel.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a hands-on role within a small team environment.
- Detail oriented and tech savvy.
Schedule: Monday-Friday 40-50 hours per week
Compensation & Benefits:
- $85,000-$100,00 annual salary, depending on experience with bonus plan
