Job Description: Chief Financial Officer
Financial Reporting & Close
- Lead monthly financial close process, including review of schedules, journal entries, and general ledger account analysis
- Review and post recurring and adjusting journal entries
- Finalize monthly close and financial results
Work in Progress (WIP) & Project Financial Oversight
- Maintain and update WIP schedule with monthly activity
- Review contract status and cost-to-complete projections with Project Managers
- Verify contract values, change orders, cost to date, billings, and estimated total costs
- Identify and review significant swings in gross profit, CIE/BIE balances, and project projections
- Ensure all monthly project cost projections are completed
Forecasting & Financial Planning
- Update backlog schedule and forecast future revenue burn
- Maintain cost and revenue forecasts
- Review year-over-year financial performance and analyze significant variances
- Monitor plan vs. actual results and recommend adjustments as needed
- Review financial performance with executive leadership
Corporate Reporting & Compliance
- Prepare and submit monthly financial reporting packages to the corporate parent company
- Maintain SOX compliance and support internal and external audit requests
- Participate in quarterly WIP review meetings with corporate finance leadership
- Prepare annual financial plans and projections
Leadership & Operational Responsibilities
- Oversee and lead the accounting department (12 staff)
- Review payroll, sales tax filings, and financial transactions (wires, checks, ACH)
- Manage insurance audits, benefits renewals, and equipment financing
- Administer corporate credit card program
- Serve on the Executive Leadership Team
- Act as EEO Officer and trustee for the company 401(k) and cash balance pension plan
- Complete annual industry surveys and required certifications
