Our client, Lhere Artepe Enterprises (LAE) is a proudly Aboriginal-owned organisation operating as a charitable trust serving the Arrernte people of Central Australia. LAE owns and operates three IGA supermarkets and the iconic Outbush clothing store, as well as owning three commercial buildings, with a mission to generate sustainable income and employment for the benefit of the local Aboriginal community. The rare and exciting opportunity now exists for a suitably qualified and experienced finance professional to join LAE during a pivotal period of growth and evolution.
The Chief Financial Officer is a key executive appointment offering the opportunity to play a central role in shaping the organisation’s financial direction while remaining closely connected to its operational foundations. Combining strong strategic insight with the capacity to manage a hands‑on remit, the CFO is responsible for providing financial leadership across a diverse portfolio including retail, property and community focussed enterprises.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and working closely with the Board, the CFO will oversee financial management, reporting and advisory, group strategy and planning, governance, capital management and ICT, while supporting long term growth and strong commercial discipline. Alongside the strategic mandate, the CFO will maintain direct oversight of core operational finance activities including budgeting and forecasting, associated reporting and the delivery of all statutory and regulatory obligations; oversight of company secretarial duties; the leadership of a small, capable finance team; and operational oversight of ICT including the management of a third‑party provider.
This role will suit a values-driven, commercially astute and dynamic finance leader who combines technical excellence with the ability to influence and drive operational improvements, strong cultural awareness and a genuine commitment to contributing to Indigenous economic development. Thriving in a complex environment, you will bring the credibility and judgement to shape outcomes, balance competing priorities and continuously strengthen financial and governance practices across the organisation. Your experience will be underpinned by appropriate tertiary qualifications, including CA or CPA membership and hold or be prepared to work towards membership of a relevant governance institute. Commercial retail experience would be beneficial however is not essential.
