Director Finance & Controlling (m/f/d)
A rapidly growing industrial group with a long-term investment approach and a private equity mindset is seeking a Director Finance & Controlling to lead the financial function across its European operations. The company invests in established industrial businesses and actively supports their strategic and operational development.

Opportunity
As Director Finance & Controlling, you will assume full financial leadership for the Group’s European operations and act as a trusted advisor to the Group Managing Director. You will shape and drive the finance agenda, enhance transparency and performance management, and play a central role in delivering value in a transformation-driven environment.
This position offers a clear path to Group CFO responsibility over time.
Scope & Reporting Line
- Responsibility for the entire European Group (Germany, France, Czech Republic; Poland as a potential future shared-services location)
- Based in Germany (flexibility can be discussed)
- Leadership of the Finance organization across all sites (approx. 22 team members)
- Regular travel within Europe
- Direct report to the Group Managing Director
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and further develop the Finance & Controlling function across all European entities
- Define and implement a forward-looking finance strategy aligned with the company’s transformation and growth objectives
- Overall responsibility for budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and performance management, including internal and external reporting
- Ensure full compliance with statutory, regulatory, and group reporting requirements
- Proactively manage liquidity, treasury, and corporate finance topics
- Identify financial risks and opportunities and translate them into actionable measures
- Maintain and further develop relationships with banks, auditors, tax advisors, and investors
- Actively contribute to strategic initiatives, including operational improvement, cost optimization, and pricing excellence
- Drive finance-related transformation and efficiency programs across the Group
Your Profile
- University degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a comparable qualification
- Background in a reputable tax advisory or audit firm is a strong plus
- Proven leadership experience in a senior finance role within an industrial environment; exposure to private equity structures is highly desirable
- Solid track record in transformation, restructuring, or performance improvement settings
- Strong expertise in treasury, liquidity management, and corporate finance
- Experience managing international finance structures and cross-border operations
- Strategic thinker with a hands-on mindset and strong execution skills
- Demonstrated ability to build, lead, and motivate high-performing finance teams
- Fluent in English and German; French is a plus
- Willingness to travel within the Group
