A fast‑growing, technology business is seeking a commercially astute finance leader to drive financial strategy, operational scalability, and value creation ahead of an anticipated PE transaction. With revenues approaching £20m and a strong subscription-driven growth profile, the company is entering an exciting phase of expansion, underpinned by increasing demand for its mission‑critical software solutions.
This role offers the opportunity to influence the strategic direction of a scaling tech business, embed robust SaaS performance frameworks, and prepare the organisation for its next stage of investment.
Role Summary
As Chief Financial Officer, you will play a pivotal role within the executive team shaping and professionalising the finance function, supporting commercial decision-making, and ensuring the business is operationally and strategically prepared for a private equity event. Reporting to the CEO and the PE board, you will lead the financial planning framework, drive SaaS KPI discipline, and support long‑term value creation in a high‑growth recurring revenue environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver a forward‑looking financial strategy aligned to the company’s SaaS growth objectives, product roadmap, and multi‑year value creation plan.
- Embed SaaS‑specific KPI management, including MRR/ARR growth, churn, CAC, LTV, payback period, gross margin optimisation, and cohort analysis.
- Partner with the CEO and leadership team to provide insight on commercial initiatives, pricing strategy, customer expansion opportunities, and new product rollouts.
- Prepare the business for post private equity investment, including professionalisation, financial modelling, investor materials
- Lead and refine FP&A, forecasting, and board reporting to enhance transparency, accuracy, and strategic clarity.
- Manage external relationships with banks, auditors, investors, and advisors, ensuring best‑in‑class governance and financial discipline.
- Strengthen core financial processes, including revenue recognition (SaaS), billing, renewals, cashflow forecasting, and system scalability.
- Build and lead a high‑performing finance function that supports rapid, technology‑driven growth and operational excellence.
Candidate Profile (Must Have)
- Experience within a technology or SaaS‑based business, with strong understanding of recurring revenue models and SaaS KPIs.
- Proven track record of supporting scaling businesses, ideally sub‑£20m revenue, through rapid growth, operational maturity, or commercial transformation.
- Experience working in a private equity environment or in a business preparing for PE investment.
- Strong exposure to M&A, fundraising, or investor relations, with the ability to act as a credible partner to institutional investors and boards.
- Professional qualification: ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CFA (or equivalent).
