Title: SVP of Finance/Chief Financial Officer (“CFO”)
Report to: Executive Vice President
Salary Range of $145K - $175
Job Summary
The primary function of this position is to manage the financial actions of the company by overseeing financial planning, maintaining financial records and reporting, and analyzing financial data to guide the company’s decision-making. Crucial functions include the company's adherence to accounting standards, budgeting, and monitoring cash flow to ensure the company’s financial health and stability. The CFO provides leadership, direction, and management of the finance and accounting team. This includes providing information and insights to the Executive Vice President (EVP) to drive strategic business goals and company success. This position interfaces with department managers assisting in tracking, auditing, and planning specific areas of the business.
Responsibilities
Reporting & Compliance
- Overseeing the preparation of all financial reporting under the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (“GAAP”). This includes ensuring proper general ledger management and timely and accurate month-end closing procedures for clean records.
- Preparing the financial statements and information for the quarterly Board of Directors Meetings.
- Coordination and management of the external audit of the company’s financial statements annually, and other audits as needed.
- Ensure proper filing of State and Local tax returns and filings.
- Assist with year-end tax compliance, partnering with a CPA firm to prepare all federal income tax returns and all legal and corporate filings.
- Conducting other compliance activities such as FCC filings and other regulatory bodies that govern, or may govern the company
- Evaluate, design, implement, and monitor internal financial controls, accounting processes, and policies for efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and accuracy.
- Reviewing significant vendor or customer contracts for compliance and adherence to GAAP.
- Oversee grant accounting activities, including compliance, reporting, and coordination with operational teams to ensure proper financial tracking and recognition.
Cash Flow & Treasury Function
- Manage all banking relationships.
- Negotiate with bank lenders to secure financing or refinancing of debt based on the company’s strategic needs.
- Determine when leasing or financing is appropriate, by managing lease execution or lending for purchases.
- Authorize all payments, whether through cash, checks, or ACH/wiring, and overall cash flow management.
- Performs reconciliation of credit card payments from credit card processor to daily deposit.
- Oversee accounting staff to ensure proper handling of all other incoming payments not directly managed by CFO.
- Oversee company credit cards, tracking funds, allocations, and usage according to policies.
Budgeting
- Managing the processes for financial forecasting and budgets, including collecting and inputting the data and structuring the model within the system. Works alongside EVP to make financial and strategic assumptions for the budget.
Administrative/Other
- Manages bi-monthly or special payroll runs and other payroll-related matters alongside the SVP of Operations. Assists in other HR-related regulatory decisions and/or policy adjustments with potential financial or compliance implications.
- Oversees VoIP-related invoices and ensures proper FCC compliance for providing interconnected VoIP.
- Responsible for reviewing and posting all one-off Time and Material invoicing, and invoicing for unique vendors which require out-of-system invoicing, such as through Ariba SAP.
- Reviews Special Project Administrator’s work over project closeout and prepares EVP a summary report of each quarter’s project closeout for Outside Plant Capitalization.
- Calculates and determines all overheard rates to be used in the system on an analysis basis.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, or related field.
- MBA and/or professional certification (CPA/CMA/Qualified Accounting certificate) are strongly preferred.
- 10+ years of relevant work experience with progressively increasing levels of responsibility.
- 5+ years of people management experience
- Any equivalent combination of experience, education, and training which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work.
