Business Operations Coordinator
London (Hybrid)
Salary - up to £40,000
Our client is a specialist consultancy working with some of the UK's most complex and high-profile organisations. They're a small, high-performing team - and they want to keep it that way, which means every hire matters.
This role is the operational backbone of the business. It touches everything. HR, finance, compliance, IT, office management, and supporting the leadership team. It's not a role for someone who wants a neat list of tasks and a quiet inbox. It's for someone who gets energy from variety, takes ownership without being asked, and wants to genuinely understand the business they're helping to run.
What you'll be doing
No two weeks will ever look quite the same. Across the course of a month, you might be:
- Keeping payroll running smoothly - liaising with the finance team, tracking changes (new starters, leavers, salary adjustments), and sense-checking the numbers
- Supporting the compliance process - helping make sure documentation is in order, records are up to date, and the business is audit-ready
- Managing the day-to-day running of the office - suppliers, facilities, health & safety, and anything else that keeps the place functioning
- Supporting the onboarding and offboarding of team members. From paperwork to making people feel genuinely welcomed
- Helping the leadership team stay organised - travel, expenses, agendas, and ad hoc support as needed
- Assisting with recruitment logistics, communications, scheduling, and coordinating assessment centres
- Spotting things that could work better and doing something about it - whether that's a process, a system, or just a way of working
Over time, as you find your feet and demonstrate what you're capable of, there's real scope to take on more. This is a role you can genuinely grow into and make your own.
Who we're looking for
We care more about how you work than exactly what you've done before. That said, some things are non-negotiable:
- You're curious. You ask why, you do your research, and you don't wait to be told things
- You're independent - when something lands on your desk that you haven't done before, your first instinct is to figure it out, not find someone to ask
- You're proactive. You see things coming before they become problems, and you act
- You're comfortable with numbers, you don't need to be a finance expert, but you're confident working with data and spreadsheets, and you notice when something doesn't look right
- You've worked in a role that required juggling multiple priorities across different parts of a business
- You handle sensitive information. Whether that's payroll, personal data, or confidential business matters, with discretion as standard
- You're energised by a small, fast-moving team rather than daunted by it
What's on offer
- Salary up to £40,000
- Private healthcare, life assurance, and income protection
- Mental health support through an Employee Assistance Programme
- A team that will invest in your development and give you room to grow
- Long‑term benefits that recognise service, wellbeing, and development.
