Our client is seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for a direct hire/ full-time opportunity currently located in the DC Metro Area. The CFO is a member of the executive leadership team and has overall responsibility for the finance, accounting, and financial strategy in conjunction with the Executive Director and Board of Directors. Working as a collaborative leader, the CFO is responsible for leading and managing and reporting on all fiscal and fiduciary affairs, including reporting to the Board and company leadership; cash and investment management; budgeting and forecasting; and oversight of all aspects of accounting. The ideal candidate will bring 15+ years of accounting/finance leadership and expertise within the not-for-profit industry and CPA, MBA or equivalent. CFO Responsibilities
- Establish and ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures in coordination with the Executive Director.
- Oversee the preparation of all internal and external financial statements and prepare accurate and reliable forecasting reports.
- Establish and ensure sound internal controls for accounting processes and procedures.
- Ensure cash flow is compatible with operations by overseeing day-to-day accounting, recording, reporting, and internal-control activities of the organization.
- Review tax receipts and donor acknowledgment letters for all stock and in-kind donations.
- Negotiate and maintain vendor contracts for finance-related services.
- Coordinate development of annual operating, capital, and program budgets.
- Review monthly investment analysis reports for accuracy and compliance with investment policy.
- Oversee and coordinate annual financial audit, compliance audits, and tax returns.
- Oversee the administration of staff benefits, personnel policies, and payroll.
- Ensure financial integrity and stability by establishing and maintaining positive relationships with department leaders and membership.
- Display servant leadership through promoting staff morale, mentorship, and leading by example.
