The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for all financial matters of the organization.
The CFO is responsible for directing the organization’s financial planning and accounting operations, as well as establishing and maintaining relationships with lending institutions and the financial community. The CFO works closely with the CEO. In addition, the CFO will partner with the Executive Team and Board of Directors to develop and implement strategies across the organization. The CFO will oversee all compliance and recognition of government, state, and private funding.

Qualifications/Education Requirements
A minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required; a CPA and/or MBA is preferred. At least five years of experience as a CFO or in an equivalent role, preferably in a nonprofit organization with a budget of at least $10 million.
Experience in a senior financial management role, partnering with executive staff to develop and implement financial strategies.
Experience working with information technology staff to manage finance and accounting software systems.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Must be able to adapt to a continually evolving environment and thrive in an autonomous and deadline-oriented workplace while managing a finance department, including payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, grants administration, purchasing, and accounting staff.
The ability to sit, stand, bend, lift, and move intermittently during the workday is required. Hours of operation and travel requirements may vary according to operational needs.

- Prepares reports as scheduled, including financial reports, budgets, utilization reports, compliance reports, cash flow analyses, payroll and tax reports, and other reports as requested.

- Oversees accounts payable, accounts receivable, purchasing, payroll, grants administration, and accounting functions.
- Ensures compliance with applicable accounting practices, financial regulations, and reporting requirements.
Finance
- Oversees cash flow planning and ensures availability of funds as needed.
- Oversees cash, investment, and asset management.
- Oversees financing strategies and banking relationships.
- Develops and utilizes forward-looking financial models and analyses.
- Maintains appropriate liquidity while meeting operational obligations.
- Supervises expense reimbursement and documentation.
- Consults with managers on organizational finances.
- Contributes to annual reporting.
Planning, Policy, and Stakeholder Relations
- Coordinates the development and monitoring of budgets.
- Develops financial business plans and forecasts.
- Participates in policy development as a member of the senior management team.
- Engages with the board of directors to develop short- and long-term financial plans.
- Represents the organization to financial partners, including financial institutions, investors, auditors, and public officials.
- Reviews insurance policies and retirement plans.
- Remains up to date on audit best practices and applicable laws and regulations.
- Participates in strategic, performance improvement, risk management, and board meetings as appropriate.
Accounting and Administration
- Oversees the accounting function to ensure proper maintenance of systems and processes; supervises finance staff.
- Maintains inventory records and depreciation schedules.
- Ensures appropriate internal controls and financial procedures.
- Ensures timely, accurate, and useful financial reporting for stakeholders.
- Coordinates with auditors and supports audit and tax preparation processes.
- Oversees preparation and communication of financial statements.
- Ensures legal and regulatory compliance for all financial functions.
- Performs other duties as required.
- Upholds and enforces organizational policies and standards of conduct.
