The Director, Business Operations serves as the VP’s organizational engine — driving clarity, alignment, and execution across the portfolio while acting as the go‑to analytical partner for the organization’s most urgent executive requests. This is a uniquely broad, high‑trust role for someone who excels at combining analytical depth with operational excellence.
Role Overview
This leader owns the operational rhythm of a multi‑function analytics organization spanning BI, GIS, Forecasting, Planning, and Channel Strategy. They keep the VP’s full portfolio visible, prioritized, and moving — managing the backlog of commitments, driving cross‑functional follow‑through, and ensuring nothing falls through the cracks.
In parallel, they lead adhoc analytical deep dives and executive deliverables, bringing structure and clarity to complex business questions and producing crisp, compelling outputs for senior executives. The role requires someone who can shift seamlessly from a backlog review to a C‑Suite deck to a structured data deep dive without losing momentum.
Reports To: Vice President, Planning & Analytics
Key Responsibilities Include
Operational Rhythm & Backlog Management
- Own and maintain the VP’s organizational backlog across BI, GIS, Forecasting, Planning, Channel Strategy, and C‑Suite requests
- Drive the operating cadence: leadership meetings, governance forums, quarterly planning cycles, cross‑functional touchpoints
- Track commitments and deliverables across the VP’s portfolio; proactively flag risks and resolve blockers
- Represent the VP in cross‑functional forums — capturing actions, aligning stakeholders, and driving follow‑through
- Identify and implement improvements that simplify and strengthen how the organization operates
OKR / KPI Framework & Organizational Discipline
- Establish and maintain a clear OKR/KPI framework for the organization
- Ensure goals are aligned, measurable, and tied to operational priorities
- Drive quarterly goal reviews, progress tracking, and accountability
- Partner with functional leaders to ensure KPIs are understood, actionable, and consistently reported
Adhoc Analysis & Deep Dives
- Lead structured analytical deep dives on complex, ambiguous business questions using a hypothesis‑driven approach
- Respond to urgent C‑Suite requests with speed, rigor, and clarity
- Partner with the Director, Forecasting & Planning and the Director, BI & GIS on analyses requiring strategic and operational integration
- Synthesize inputs across teams into coherent, insight‑driven narratives
Executive Decks & Storytelling
- Build executive‑grade presentations for the VP — crafting the narrative before designing the slides
- Translate complex analytical findings into crisp, visually compelling decks for CEO, CRO, and CFO audiences
What Success Looks Like
The organization runs on a predictable, disciplined operating rhythm. Priorities are clear, visible, and moving with limited VP intervention. Executive deliverables are consistently crisp, analytical, and on time. OKRs/KPIs are established, tracked, and used to drive accountability. The result is a more aligned, focused, and high‑performing organization.

- Strong analytical problem‑solving skills with a hypothesis‑driven approach
- Exceptional executive communication — able to translate complex analysis into concise, compelling narratives
- Demonstrated experience or capability to build or run OKR/KPI frameworks driving organizational accountability
- Highly organized with strong operational instincts, yet flexible and adaptable in approach
- Trusted cross‑functional partner with strong EQ, relationship‑building skills, and influence without authority
