PARTNER is proud to be conducting the search for a newly created Chief Financial Officer on behalf of McNally Group.
This is a significant executive appointment for a highly regarded, family-owned Western Australian business with a strong financial foundation, an outstanding market reputation, and a clear growth trajectory. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the CFO will play a critical role in helping shape the next phase of the Group’s evolution, supporting continued growth, diversification, and operational scalability across the business.
This opportunity will suit a commercially astute, strategically minded and entrepreneurial finance leader who can operate as both a trusted adviser to the Directors and a hands-on executive capable of strengthening finance operations, and helping position the business for long-term success.
About McNally Group
McNally Group is a proudly family-owned Western Australian business with an established reputation for delivering high-quality outcomes across mine site villages and facilities, non-process infrastructure, modular buildings, and residential projects through MIRA Residential. The Group has built a strong name in the market through a fully integrated operating model spanning design, in-house manufacturing, transport, installation and construction delivery.
With substantial manufacturing capability in Henderson, direct access to decision-makers, and a business philosophy grounded in quality, accountability and long-term relationships, McNally Group has continued to grow and diversify while maintaining the agility and values of a family-run enterprise. Its core purpose “Build Better. Better People. Better Relationships. Better Projects.” remains central to how the Group operates with its people, clients, suppliers and broader community.
The Opportunity
This is more than a traditional finance leadership role.
As CFO, you will be a key member of the executive leadership team, partnering closely with the Directors to provide strategic financial direction while ensuring the business is well positioned to support continued expansion and diversification. You will bring a strong commercial lens to decision-making, support capital and growth planning, and help the Group navigate the opportunities and complexities that come with scale.
The business is already financially sound and well run. The mandate now is to appoint a CFO who can build on that platform, and elevate finance as a true enabler of strategic growth.
A key part of the brief is to identify a leader with an entrepreneurial, investor-style mindset, someone who understands how to balance disciplined financial stewardship with commercial agility, and who can contribute meaningfully to broader business strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with the Directors on strategic direction, growth initiatives and diversification opportunities
- Work in conjunction with the Group’s finance team to support strong financial governance, controls and performance management
- Partner with the business on budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management and financial planning across the Group
- Contribute to the continued enhancement of forecasting accuracy, reporting clarity and decision-support insights for leadership
- Support the delivery of statutory reporting, compliance, audit and taxation requirements across the Group
- Work closely with the Financial Controller team to review and enhance finance processes, systems and structures, including identifying opportunities for greater automation
- Provide commercial advice on business performance, project profitability, risk, capital allocation and investment decisions
- Support the business through growth by building scalable finance capability and stronger operational visibility
- Develop trusted relationships across the Group, partnering with operational leaders and key internal stakeholders
- Build and maintain strong external relationships with banks, auditors, advisers and other strategic partners
- Mentor and develop the finance team, creating a high-performing, commercially engaged function
The Person
We are seeking a high-calibre CFO or senior finance executive who combines strategic capability with credibility in a complex, delivery-focused operating environment.
You will be commercially sharp, operationally grounded and confident working in a privately owned business where relationships, judgement and adaptability matter. You will bring strong technical finance capability, but equally, the presence and mindset to contribute at executive level and support a growth-oriented Board of Directors.
Ideal Experience
- Proven experience in a CFO, Finance Director or equivalent senior finance leadership role
- Strong experience across financial control, reporting, audit, compliance, treasury, budgeting and forecasting
- Demonstrated ability to improve finance functions, systems, processes and reporting capability
- Experience supporting business growth, diversification and strategic decision-making
- A proactive and commercially minded approach, with the ability to operate as a genuine business partner
- Strong leadership capability, including experience mentoring and uplifting finance teams
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build credibility internally and externally
- Relevant sector experience in construction, mining services, mining infrastructure, modular construction, or closely aligned project-based environments
- A strong understanding of the commercial and operational drivers of construction in mining will be highly regarded
- CA / CPA qualified, with tertiary qualifications in finance, accounting, commerce or a related discipline
Why This Role
This is an outstanding opportunity to join a respected and successful Western Australian business at an exciting point in its journey.
For the right executive, this role offers the chance to work closely with an engaged MD, contribute meaningfully to the future direction of the Group, and help shape a finance function that supports sustainable growth, diversification and long-term value creation.
