Job Summary:
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing all financial operations and investment strategy to support the business through phases of rapid growth. This position demands a dynamic and visionary leader capable of driving financial performance, enhancing shareholder value, and ensuring the company's financial integrity. The CFO will work closely with the CEO and the board of directors to formulate and execute strategies that support the company’s expansion goals.
Key responsibilities include managing the company's financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes to ensure alignment with strategic growth objectives. This role is responsible for leading the investor relations strategy and engaging the investor community regularly. The CFO will also oversee treasury functions, including capitalization, cash management, and banking relationships. Additionally, the CFO is tasked with maintaining robust internal controls and compliance in accounting and finance functions, and leading enterprise risk assessment efforts.
Essential Job Duties And Responsibilities
Strategy, Planning and Investor Relations
- Develop and implement strategies to improve communication and engagement with the investor community. This includes regular updates, investor meetings, and presentations to ensure transparency and build investor confidence.
- Participate in decisions related to strategic initiatives and business units, ensuring alignment with long-term organizational goals.
- Select and engage consultants, auditors, and investors to support strategic financial planning and investor relations.
- Communicate, engage and interact with Board and Directors, CEO, and Executive Leadership Team.
Financial Analysis, Budgeting and Forecasting
- Explore new investment opportunities and provide recommendations on potential returns and risks to support strategic growth.
- Assess and evaluate financial performance of the business units and organization with regard to long-term operational goals, budgets and forecasts.
- Utilize forward-looking models and activity-based analyses to provide financial insight into the organization’s plans and operating budgets.
- Identify, develop, and execute analysis of business initiatives, product launches and/or new service offerings.
- Create and establish yearly financial objectives that align with the company’s operating plan.
- Develop and maintain monthly operating budget and annual company operating budget.
- Manage financial planning and analysis, creation of reports, software implementation and tools for budgeting and forecasting.
Treasury and Cash Management
- Develop strong banking relationships and strategic alliances with investors, vendors, and business partners to support financial stability and growth.
- Ensure the organization is appropriately capitalized.
- Manage cash flow planning process and ensure funds availability.
- Oversee cash, investments and asset management area.
Accounting, General Ledger, Administration and Operations
- Review and ensure application of appropriate internal controls, SOX compliance and financial procedures.
- Ensure timeliness and accuracy of financial and management reporting data for federal funders, foundations, investors and company’s board of directors.
- Oversee the preparation and communication of weekly, monthly and annual financial statements as well as timely filing of all local, state and federal tax returns.
- Serve as a key point of contact for external auditors; Manage preparation and support of all external audits.
- Coordinates and strategize methods used to attain team goals with Chief Accounting Officer.
KPIs
- As the CFO, you will be responsible for KPIs related to financial plans, mergers and acquisitions, and tactics for strategic planning reviews.

- Manufacturing – Understands and supports the role of Manufacturing in driving product quality, competitive cost, and delivery timing through thoughtful manufacturing footprint strategy, robust lean processes and systems, and consistent execution.
- Finance – Understands and supports the role of Finance in being a key partner to the BU in making both strategic and tactical decisions that deliver good outcomes for AAON customers, owners, and employees.
Education And Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- MBA preferred
- 10+ years total accounting or finance experience in public companies
Technical Skill Requirements
- Thorough understanding of accounting and financial reporting for public companies.
- Credit relations experience in the following: commercial, investment, negotiating lines of credit, covenants, and amendments.
- Proven experience with mergers and acquisitions: working with various parties; negotiating terms and conditions; leading a cross-functional team of experts.
- Knowledge and understanding of GAAP, SOX compliance and SEC reporting.
Work Environment
- Sitting for prolonged periods
- Requires frequent visits to manufacturing facilities with seasonal hot and cold temperatures, dust, and some chemical fume exposure.
- Extensive travel required including overnight stays.
