POSITION SUMMARY:
The Chief Financial Officer serves as the organization’s financial leader and strategic partner to the CEO and Board of Directors. The CFO oversees all financial operations, ensuring the museum’s financial health, sustainability, and compliance while supporting long-term strategic planning and organizational growth.
This role manages financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, audits, cash flow, endowment accounting, and internal controls. The CFO also oversees payroll, benefits, human resources support, risk management, and administrative financial systems. The position supervises two administrative staff members and works collaboratively across all departments.
INSTITUTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting
- Financial reporting and audit oversight
- Cash flow and endowment management
- Compliance, internal controls, and financial policies
- Payroll, benefits, and HR support
- Board Finance and Endowment Committee reporting
- Oversight of café, shop, and organizational accounting systems
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Degree in accounting, finance, or business (CPA/CMA preferred)
- 6+ years of financial leadership experience (nonprofit preferred)
- Supervisory experience
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting
- Strong analytical, leadership, and communication skills
SALARY RANGE:
- $90,000 to $110,000 annually
