We are looking for an experienced Chief Financial Officer to provide strategic financial leadership and hands-on advisory support for a Long-term Contract opportunity in the greater Pittsfield area. This position will evaluate the effectiveness of finance and accounting operations, strengthen reporting practices, and recommend practical improvements that support sound decision-making across the organization. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in financial oversight, process improvement, and nonprofit accounting, with the ability to guide leadership through high-priority financial initiatives.
Responsibilities:
• Examine existing finance and controller workflows to uncover control weaknesses, process bottlenecks, and areas where operational performance can be improved.
• Review reporting cycles and accounting activities, including management reporting, cost analysis, consolidation practices, and preparation of financial statements, to identify opportunities for greater accuracy and efficiency.
• Recommend actionable changes to finance and accounting procedures that simplify execution, improve consistency, and support stronger financial governance.
• Assess how finance leadership and accounting teams work together and propose ways to improve alignment, accountability, and shared service effectiveness.
• Analyze current data practices and analytics capabilities to enhance reporting quality, increase visibility into financial performance, and support better business decisions.
• Advise leadership on finance transformation efforts that improve organizational structure, scalability, and oversight within the financial function.
• Collaborate closely with executive leadership to develop recommendations that align financial operations with strategic priorities and day-to-day business needs.
• Provide interim executive-level consulting support during process reviews, organizational change efforts, and other high-impact finance initiatives.
• Support improvements related to business systems and month-end close activities to help create more reliable and timely financial outcomes.
• Demonstrated experience serving in a CFO, finance executive, or senior financial leadership capacity.
• Strong background in cash flow analysis, capital planning, and overall financial management.
• Expertise in financial reporting, month-end close processes, and financial statement oversight.
• Knowledge of nonprofit accounting principles and practices.
• Ability to evaluate business systems, reporting workflows, and operational finance processes to identify meaningful improvements.
• Proven success partnering with executive stakeholders to deliver strategic recommendations and drive finance-related initiatives.
• Strong analytical and communication skills with the ability to translate complex financial issues into practical business solutions.
