Company Overview
Publicly traded rare earth minerals company focused on developing strategic U.S.-based REE mining assets. The business operates within the growing critical minerals sector supporting domestic supply chains, advanced manufacturing, and energy transition initiatives.
The company is seeking a hands-on CFO with strong public company and mining industry experience. This executive will work closely with leadership, investors, auditors, and the board while helping support the company’s long-term operational and capital markets growth.
This is an in-office role based in Downtown Vancouver, BC. Flexibility for personal matters is supported; however, executive presence in office is expected.
Position Summary
The CFO will lead all finance, accounting, reporting, treasury, compliance, and capital markets activities for the organization. Candidates should bring prior CFO or senior finance leadership experience within the mining industry, ideally with publicly traded exploration, development, or producing mining companies.
The ideal executive will possess strong SEC/public reporting experience, credibility with investors and boards, and the communication skills necessary to operate effectively within both public market and private equity environments.
Experience working within mining development businesses — where significant investment precedes meaningful revenue generation — is important.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all finance, accounting, treasury, tax, audit, and financial reporting functions
- Oversee SEC reporting, compliance, and public company filing requirements
- Manage quarterly and annual reporting processes including MD&A, financial statements, disclosures, and audit coordination
- Support capital raises, banking relationships, investor presentations, and strategic financing initiatives
- Interface directly with board members, auditors, legal counsel, investors, analysts, and private equity stakeholders
- Build scalable financial processes and infrastructure to support company growth
- Partner with operational and technical teams on forecasting, project economics, budgeting, and capital planning
- Assist leadership with strategic planning, cash management, and long-term financial modeling
- Maintain strong internal controls, governance, and risk management processes
- Support investor communications and overall market-facing financial strategy
- Evaluate financing alternatives including equity markets, strategic partnerships, government-backed initiatives, and project financing opportunities
Desired Background
- Prior CFO experience within the mining industry strongly preferred
- Experience with publicly traded mining or natural resource companies required
- Strong understanding of mining development cycles, exploration-stage economics, and project capitalization structures
- U.S. public company reporting experience highly preferred
- SEC reporting experience required
- XBRL experience considered a strong plus
- Experience working with external auditors and public market compliance frameworks
- Prior interaction with institutional investors, PE groups, banks, and board members
- Strong executive presence with excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to operate effectively within lean, entrepreneurial, and evolving organizations
- Comfortable balancing strategic leadership with hands-on execution
Education / Credentials
- CPA required (U.S. CPA strongly preferred)
- Canadian CA / CPA designation may also be considered
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline required
- Additional executive finance, capital markets, or mining-related credentials considered beneficial
