Job Summary:
The Regional Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a key member of the leadership team within the assigned Region. This role provides strategic and operational financial leadership across a diverse portfolio that includes hospitals, physician practices, outpatient services, and research initiatives. The Regional CFO is responsible for ensuring financial sustainability while advancing the organization’s mission of patient care, education, and research—fully aligned with both regional and system-wide objectives.
Job Responsibilities and Requirements:
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop and execute financial strategies that support the health system’s care, education, and research mission.
- Partner with the Regional President and health system executives to align financial planning and funding models.
- Evaluate and structure business development opportunities, clinical expansions, and capital investments with a focus on long-term impact and sustainability.
- Provide financial oversight for hospitals and affiliated operations, ensuring efficiency, appropriate cost structures, and strong margin performance.
- Drive continuous improvement in financial performance through enhanced revenue cycle management, strategic payer contracting, and disciplined cost-reduction initiatives.
- Lead the preparation, management, and monitoring of annual operating and capital budgets for hospital and medical group entities.
- Collaborate with the System finance team to develop and maintain a comprehensive strategic financial plan and long-range forecast.
- Participate in multidisciplinary quality, service, and performance improvement initiatives; represent the region and department in internal meetings and community engagements as needed.
- Maintain strong financial controls and ensure adherence to all applicable regulatory, accreditation, and audit requirements.
- Provide timely and accurate financial reporting and analysis to regional and system governance bodies.
- Lead and develop a high-performing team of finance professionals across hospitals and physician groups.
- Foster a collaborative environment that bridges clinical and operational priorities to drive shared success.
- Cultivate trusted relationships with physician leaders, administrative teams, and external stakeholders.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
