Our client, a growing homebuilding company, is seeking a hands-on CFO / Controller with strong experience in the homebuilding industry or construction. This leadership role will oversee a small team and manage both the day-to-day accounting function and higher-level financial responsibilities. The ideal candidate will bring deep industry expertise, strong technical accounting knowledge, and a willingness to stay involved in daily operations. This is a fully in-office position. CPA is required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage a small accounting team while remaining hands-on in daily financial operations.
- Review accounts payable and accounts receivable activities to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and proper controls.
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Manage the month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations, journal entries, and account analysis.
- Oversee the general ledger and ensure accurate financial reporting in accordance with company policies and accounting standards.
- Coordinate and manage the annual audit and support any financial review processes.
- Partner with leadership to provide financial visibility, reporting, and insights to support operational and strategic decisions.
- Monitor internal controls, accounting procedures, and process improvements to support an efficient finance function.
- Ensure accurate documentation and maintenance of accounting records and supporting schedules.
- Support budgeting, cash flow visibility, and overall financial oversight as needed.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience as a Controller, CFO, or senior accounting/finance leader required.
- Strong experience within the homebuilding industry or construction required.
- CPA required.
- Proven hands-on experience managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, financial statement preparation, close, audit, and review.
- Experience leading or mentoring a small team.
- Strong knowledge of accounting operations, financial reporting, and internal controls.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fully onsite environment.
