Location: Lax Kw’alaams, British Columbia
Reporting to: IT Support Specialist
The Lax Kw’alaams Information Technology Department has an exciting and immediate opening for a Full-Time IT Support employee. As a key member of the team, this role is responsible for providing technical assistance to users by diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving hardware, software, and network issues. This role ensures reliable operation of computer systems and supports end users in an enterprise environment.
Responsibilities:
General
- Assist the IT Support Specialist or designate, with day-to-day IT operations
- Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware, software, network, and application-related issues
- Consult user guides, technical manuals, and other documentation to research and implement effective solutions
- Install, configure, and maintain desktop and laptop computers, printers, mobile devices, and peripheral equipment
- Troubleshoot Windows and/or macOS operating systems, Microsoft 365, email systems, and common business applications
- Provide network and Internet support, including LAN, Wi-Fi, VPN, and basic TCP/IP troubleshooting
- Maintain accurate IT documentation, asset inventories, and support procedures
- Collect, organize, and maintain a log of technical problems and solutions for reference
- Perform system updates, backups, and basic security checks to ensure system reliability and data protection
- Ensure compliance with organizational IT policies, security standards, and best practices
- Provide advice, training, and guidance to users to prevent recurring technical issues
- Participate in the redesign, testing, and improvement of applications and software systems as required
- Performs other related duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
- Diploma in Computer Systems
Experience
- Minimum of three years related experience
- Excellent hardware and software skills
- Excellent Microsoft Office 365 skills
- Excellent time management skills
- Excellent analysis, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Excellent understanding of Information technology tools and concepts
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills working with technical and nontechnical personnel at various levels in the organization
- Excellent organizational and coordination abilities with close attention to detail
- Ability to influence and use judgment in decision-making
- Ability to work independently
- Knowledge of the Lax Kw’alaams community is an asset
Physical Demands and Working Environment: Physical Demand
- Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 50 lbs of IT equipment
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time while performing computer-based work

- As per the Canadian Union of Public Employees’ Local 2365 Collective Agreement
