Controller / Director of Finance
Location: Midland, TX (Preferred) or Houston, TX with regular travel to Midland
Compensation: $150,000–$230,000 base salary + bonus
Schedule: Full-Time | On-Site / Hybrid Flexibility Based on Location
About the Opportunity
A growing, privately held organization is seeking a strategic and hands-on finance leader to oversee accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash management, and operational finance initiatives across a multi-entity environment.
This is a high-impact leadership role partnering closely with executive leadership to support continued growth, improve financial visibility, strengthen internal controls, and drive operational performance. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable operating at both the strategic and tactical levels and thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all accounting and finance operations, including month-end close, financial reporting, and account reconciliations
- Prepare and present accurate financial statements in accordance with GAAP
- Develop budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management processes
- Deliver executive-level reporting packages, KPIs, variance analysis, and operational metrics
- Partner with leadership on strategic planning and business initiatives
- Oversee internal controls, compliance, and process improvement initiatives
- Manage relationships with external auditors, banking partners, and tax advisors
- Mentor and develop accounting and finance team members
- Support system improvements, automation initiatives, and scalable financial infrastructure
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA preferred
- 8+ years of progressive accounting/finance leadership experience
- Strong background in multi-entity accounting and financial reporting
- Experience in construction, energy, industrial services, manufacturing, or related industries strongly preferred
- Proven leadership and team management experience
- Advanced Excel and ERP system experience required
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact across all levels of the organization
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary ranging from $150,000–$230,000 depending on experience
