Role Description
IMRA Surgical is seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to oversee and direct all financial operations. This full-time role is based on-site in our Port Melbourne, VIC office. The CFO will be responsible for strategic financial planning, preparing financial statements, managing budgets, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. Responsibilities also include supervising financial reporting, analyzing financial data to inform decision-making, and providing insights to support business growth and operational efficiency. This is a senior leadership role that requires 4 days per week of in-office presence.
Financial Leadership & Strategy
- Lead the company’s financial strategy, planning, and forecasting processes
- Support the CEO and Board with strategic financial insights and decision-making
- Develop scalable financial systems, controls, and reporting structures
- Assist with capital raising activities, investor engagement, and board reporting
- Provide commercial analysis across manufacturing, product development, and international operations
Commercial & Operational Finance
- Own and improve:
- Real COGS modelling and cost visibility
- SKU-level margin analysis
- Pricing frameworks and pricing discipline
- Financial reporting and cash management
- Drive economic truth and financial discipline throughout the organisation
- Build robust operational KPIs and reporting metrics
- Support inventory planning, forecasting, manufacturing scale-up, and operational efficiency
- Partner with department leaders on budgeting, accountability, and performance management
Global & Strategic Operations
- Support financial oversight of international entities, distributors, and global operations
- Assist with international structuring, tax coordination, and transfer pricing considerations
- Manage relationships with external accountants, auditors, legal counsel, and advisors
- Lead or support ERP/system implementation and process improvement initiatives as required
Leadership & Governance
- Prepare board reports, management reporting packs, and financial presentations
- Support governance, compliance, audit, and risk management activities
- Help foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and operational excellence
- Mentor and develop internal finance capability over time
Qualifications
- Proven expertise as a CFO in Financial Planning and Financial Reporting
- Strong proficiency in preparing and analyzing Financial Statements
- In-depth understanding of Finance and Analytical Skills.
- Experience in building tools and programs (AI) for financial reports and management
- Experience with strategic budgeting, forecasting, and compliance with financial regulations
- Exceptional leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities
- Demonstrated ability to represent management with our board regarding financials
- Experience in capital raising preferred
- Knowledge of the healthcare or medical technology sectors is a plus
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; CPA or MBA is highly desirable
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across teams
