The right person will be a trusted partner to ownership, a credible and confident face to banking and customer relationships, and a steady hand navigating the complexities of a multi-entity government contracting environment.
Responsibilities
- Own the full financial function, including general ledger, financial statements, balance sheet, P&L, and cash flow management
- Lead financial planning and analysis (FP&A), including financial modeling, forecasting, and scenario planning to support growth and scalability
- Oversee and refine G&A calculations, indirect rate structures, and cost accounting practices across job-based and project-based work
- Manage banking relationships, forward-facing financial reporting, and credit line strategy to ensure adequate liquidity as the business scales
- Support and lead compliance with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Government GAAP (G-GAAP), and TINA audit requirements
- Coordinate tax planning across multiple business entities, partnering with external advisors to optimize structure and minimize liability
- Manage vendor and supplier relationships from a financial perspective, ensuring credit terms and flexibility keep pace with growth
- Evaluate, recommend, and lead the upgrade of current ERP and accounting systems (currently QuickBooks and an MRP platform) to support a scaling workforce and government compliance requirements
- Partner with the VP of HR on compliance-related matters and ensure financial infrastructure supports headcount growth
- Serve as a forward-facing representative to customers, banking partners, and other external stakeholders
- Provide strategic input on new business opportunities, proposals, and bid pricing to ensure profitability and competitiveness
- Oversee and mentor the existing accounting team, including a Controller and two staff accountants
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA, MBA, or advanced degree a plus
- Prerequisite: prior experience in government contracting, with a strong working knowledge of FAR, G-GAAP, DCAA compliance, and TINA audits
- Experience in an engineering, manufacturing, or defense services environment strongly preferred; familiarity with WIP accounting, job costing, and project-based financials essential
- Proven FP&A background with the ability to build and own financial models, indirect rate structures, and multi-entity forecasts
- Experience managing banking relationships and scaling credit facilities in a growth environment
- Track record of upgrading financial systems and building scalable infrastructure; QuickBooks and MRP system experience a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present confidently to customers, ownership, and financial partners
